Is El-P an insufferably wack CAC or a genius?

This is the beat that sways me towards the latter....especially when it switches. But I DON'T KNOW WTF HE'S TALMBOUT, EVER.

this is the song that made me want to check for El-P...it doesn't really get any better than this...he had a few bright spots on that LP, but thats about it for me...those Run The Jewels albums do nothing for me...

he's Obviously the latter

dude will always get my respect for knowing his hip hop, and for producing 3 back-to-back-to-back 4.5 albums with Killer Mike and for the first Cannibal Ox album, plus some songs from Funcrusher.

Those solos are hard to get into. But i can't say they are "wack"

.

One could argue that Mike was always a great emcee, and maybe he had individual songs but as much as i liked him he didnt have the album that you could point to that was the total package until RAP Music. Thats the album that got me to revisit EL-P, because on funcrusher plus i couldnt fukk with him at all as an emcee or the songs themselves.

Listening to Cancer4Cure i do wonder what the hell is he talking half the time and why is he talking about that the other half, but in a quirky way it works especially with his beats.

he's dope to me though I don't like his stuff for killer mike. his solo stuff is his hit or miss but I love songs like T.O.J., the overly dramatic truth, and stepfather factory.

needless to say the Cann ox album is legendary.

I fukk with the Run the Jewelz stuff mostly off of his production and Killer Mike. I could do with about 75% less of El-P rapping...But he isn't the worst. just sometimes he sounds like he's rhyming OVER the beat and not ON geat.

I do fukk with RTJ though....saw them twice already...and those beats bang.

Insufferably wack CAC. Cannot stand to listen to him rap. :scust:
Some of his beats are ok. He's D Level to me.
The idea that one day the general consensus may put him over Havoc, Extra P and Q-Tip is simply horrifying. :scust:
I couldn't get into the RTJ album because of him. I didn't even listen to the second one. RAP music was good though. Thanks to Mike.
