ClAssic yea, timeless ? ...:francis:
It aged poorly just like marshall himself
I feel something should not be considered a classic if it isn't timeless.

Illmatic vividly paints a picture for fellow human beings of a certain period, generations to come.
MMLP sounds like a angry, lonely, slightly skits, joker with a sick flow.

Not a classic to me, but shyt is epic nonetheless.

Kim is the worst song I have ever heard in my life. How could anyone listen to that shyt more than once in a lifetime? and fukk no....this album is awful and back then I was actually a fan of Eminem as an MC despite hating The Slim Shady LP as well. Thats how bad this album is.

I bought this album at the Wiz in green acres mall in valley stream...line was out the door with mostly black folk buying this shyt. All you young nigs/cacs have no idea how impactful this album was.

I went to school with and witnessed a lot of these types of people that Eminem was catering to with this album so while I can't personally relate to a lot of the material he was definitely speaking on some real shyt for HIS audience. I can appreciate the skill and the effort that went into it and I wouldn't argue against someone calling it a classic but it doesn't really resonate with me especially now...years later... It had some really great tracks on there though.

Like I said before, I think Eminem's best work is The Eminem Show because that's where his peak as an artist is. He's made some nice songs like "Legacy" since then but he's much more miss than hit. I also liked "Stay Wide Awake"..

See, I'll give anything a chance but when I can't really relate to it it's going to be a problem. I won't be as invested that's for sure. :manny:

Never heard this album before. I'm at Pacifics right now and it's pretty cool. Not my type of thing for regular rotation but certainly nice in its own way.

Coolie High is one of my favorite joints of all time. ALL TIME

For all the people who are saying that MMLP is classic because it's their generation... I can't really buy that. I heard rap in the mid 90s through my dad, but I didn't get into it heavy until I heard Mase's Harlem World. That's the first album I copped with my own money. I remember that being the turning point for me like "damn, hip hop is the best shyt in the world. I'm gonna listen to more." So there's nostalgia involved.

Do I think Harlem World is classic, knowing what I know now? No. And it's not close either. Good album though.

This fool brought a Mase Cd and thought he was into rap heavy. That's like buying a MC Hammer album and swearing you are a official HipHop head.

Have you listened to that Classic album by Digable Planets yet?

shyt the only album he has that is even mediocre is TES and that's a 2/5 at best.

Fourth-highest selling album of the decade, really established him as a force in hip-hop, he was arguably the best rapper out at the time, and it has his first real transcendent song and birthed a term still used in hip-hop more than a decade later ("Stan"). Speaking about the influence of it is tough because no one else would be able to duplicate what he was doing, but otherwise I think it's a classic[/QUOTE]
No it's trash:camby: aged like shyt when I was 10 I thought it was good because I had never heard anything like it but now a classic will forever be classic get this shyt out of here
