You'd get more value getting a minor in Spanish or some other foreign language in the American job market.:russ:

But if you got money to burn, why not do it? Generally speaking minors are ignored by employers unless it's some niche industry specialization. The only way English would help you is if you were getting a general degree in education and wanted to augment it, or if you wanted to teach English abroad, but your main degree was unrelated.. Otherwise, you'd get more value by just using the money as toilet paper.:hubie:

if it's a minor where you only have to add a class to your schedule to toss it on there...sure, maybe it'll help distinguish you from the applicant pool. Instead of just having a major you have a minor...

But I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to get it. Lowkey some employers might even question why you needed to get a minor in English, could open you up to some assumptions and indirect discrimination

Knowing how to write and synthesize info is an underrated skill
I don't know about yall schools. But in nyc universities they changed it to where each course in each domain/focus there is a writing intensive course. I think you have to do 3 writing intensive courses on top of English 101, 102, and/or English lit.

So in my finance and economics course we had to actually write papers connecting the subject matter , including the econ fundamentals with written reports.

The prequisites were English 101, English 102 and then another course in let's say econ 101/102 or econ 201 depending on the level of that particular writing intensive. It was a bytch when they changed it my junior year

To answer your question, now a days a bachelor degree is like nothing, enough people have them. To separate yourself you need to specialize and probably further your education.

It's like going to uni just for chemistry, my prof explained to me after those 4 years you're gonna have to specialize especially if you want some bread.
