my family is there and a lot of my friends, but taxes and weighing what i could get for my money elsewhere really have me thinking. i'm giving myself about 2-3 years to decide whether i go back. if i don't, i think i'm heading back to the east coast or going to try texas...i'm not feeling chicago for the long term

It's a great idea. If you can't afford to live there, move. There are plenty of affordable areas in America.
