Don't just be an employee if you don't have to be (I wish someone told me this in my younger days)

I heard my friends cousin is on his way to becoming a millionaire, he and his friends created the hailo taxi app, I think it's just be launched in New York.

Think they're taking it global, great app, good luck to them.

Yes. But, you are behind the 8-ball right now. Hundreds of independent developers around the world have already been creating apps for the various operating systems/smartphones that are out there, Apple, Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, etc. They are making money creating apps and uploading them and making a profit everytime someone buys and downloads their app. It's all about low profit, high volume. Apps are cheap, compared to a game or program. You don't make a lot of profit. But since it's a global marketplace, you can have thousands of people downloading your app. The money adds up every month. Plus, the big companies have their own developers creating apps for their phones. If you know what you are doing, you can get hired by one or a sub-contractor.

I don't have the time to do it. Plus, you have to buy a phone to development and test your app.

lol and this is exactly why the threadstarter probably won't have a future working in the App game. No actual value being created.

The people creating these apps need to focus more on creating companies with actual business models, acquiring customers and selling a product. Otherwise its just another bubble like the .com shyt in the early 2000s...

if i was you i'd look into children's apps. think that could be a booming market. parents are willing to pay for shyt that will keep their kid busy and educate them

i was thinking of apps that would cater towards college students

but kids apps would have obvious mass appeal too

it is at the moment, but I'm not sure how much longevity that will have...

as long as cell phones are around app developers will eat good breh

Yes.......But programming in general is the way to go right now..lol. Our mobile department is blowing up. The roadmap for next year is to add Windows 8 and an Ipad app..

and you know whats great about the Mobile field right now? The diversity. Each platform basically has there own standards/API/perfered language.

IOS - Objective-C
Android - Java
Windows 8 - C#/C++/XAML ( not going to count VB.NET )

So this means they have to hire more people then they would for a desktop app( since nonone is controlling the Mobile field like Windows on the desktop ).


But please, do not get into programming unless you *LOVE* it..

let's say i'm not the best programmer but i've got great app ideas...what do u suggest?
