Thing is various euro countries have a long history of basketball, which went kind of under the radar for a long time. That they could be better than american whites comes to no surprise for anyone who has been following a little international basketball for the past decades. Black players have those same qualities plus athleticism so there's still a looooooong time before euros catch up, if ever. However the change of rules and actual style of play benefits euro players more than in the past.
BUT I think there's also the fact that in lot of Euro countries white players don't have the competition of...black players. That's a big difference with the US, where probably a lot of "just good" white players get surpassed by better black competition at an early age, and kicked off the team. So that means they don't develop. (tough luck for them, it is what it is) On the other hand, players in Slovenia, Serbia, Lithuania etc don't compete with Black players at the same level, so they have more time to develop. Soccer is the still the go-to sport for Blacks in Europe, and those good black players who can leave for the US as soon as they can (to play in HS or college), while white players usually stay on the continent and join pro teams. Maybe a Jokic who was kind of overweight young would've been replaced by a more athletic breh, maybe if KP goes to the US instead of Spain he gets outplayed by bigger and stronger and more polished black players and we never really hear of him, who knows. Look at a country with a large black population like France : all the french players - I think like 10 or 15, over the years- who played in the NBA are Black, except for Fournier.
