The virus can shed whether there's a break out or not but in general, as long as she avoids having sex during one, there's about a 5-10% chance of passing the virus on within the first year of infection. That number decreases every year after that.

It's harder for men to get herpes from a woman.

Easier for woman to get it from men.

If you have it and your outbreaks are just bumps, consider yourself lucky. Some people have severe outbreaks where the bumps flare up and burst turning into itchy sores with pus

Having an itchy sore that you can't even scratch with a fever to that lingers everytime you have a major outbreak...does that sound like just bumps to you?
