Is God selfish? How come He demands constant praise and worship while not doing anything for us

Question though, why exactly is it that Jesus had to die in order for god to forgive our sins? :jbhmm:

I mean if god wants to forgive someone's sins, can't he just forgive them without having to torture and kill someone else? That part seems kind of unnecessary and violent.

and also, is it really a sacrifice if you know you can’t lose? He knew his father would resurrect him

edit: I just realized the irony of my post to screen name correlation lol

You're right though about a relationship being a two-way street. However even though we may reject God/refuse to believe He exists, He still stands at the door of our hearts and knocks. Many choose not to let Him in or to hear the hard knocks so-to-speak, but He is still there waiting to be invited in. That's good news.

There's no knock on any door
Also i'm not an atheist
im an agnostic
I see hardcore atheists and hardcore believers as the same

Humans are too uncomfortable to say "I don't know" to the almighty question. But i'm absolutely fine with it!

It's still a sacrifice (in my opinion) because Jesus still had to painfully die. And it was not a quick death. It took 6 hours of suffering and literally hanging by nails on a cross.

I think there's always a knock. And in hindsight back when I was a skeptic, I realize that coming into threads like these was actually a "knock." It was God getting my attention. And just like Saul (who became Paul) did, I would debate why I thought God didn't care or even exist. But accepting an invitation to discover Him for myself changed my mind.

God uses lots of things/people/situations to try and get our attention and to let Him into our lives. We can keep the door closed and pretend we don't hear Him knocking but He is still there waiting for us day after day, year after year. It doesn't hurt to give Him a try.

Yet magically skipped all the starving kids in the world and babies dying

We've been warned that earthly life is often unfair and we will have many troubles (John 16:33) like in the past/present starvation, famine, wars, holocaust, disease, slavery, trafficking, etcetera. And God did not exempt Himself from suffering as well but we also need to understand how short this earthly suffering/life is in relation to eternal heavenly life. God isn't any less good because He allows suffering in the world. There is a bigger picture of eternity involved. Unfortunately a lot of people refuse to see beyond this short and very temporary earthly life we have. There is far more and far better beyond that.

And let little kids grow up in a situation where they are molested, neglected, and eventually die before they hit double digits

"God works in mysterious ways"

:stopitslime:

It's sad that in this day and age we still have grown ass adults that still fully believe in this stuff. Luckily younger people are becoming less and less religious and relying more on practicality and science :obama:
