Is going on a vacation alone weird?

i been to brazil, france and japan solo. i speak french decently so france was slightly easier to navigate.

all my stories make my friends jealous to this day.

Yeah man, do it solo.

Matter of fact, get use to doing stuff on your own... lounges, movies, sporting events. Its uncomfortable at first, but knowing you can have a good time by yourself is very therapeutic.

This x infinity. I go to the movies alone, restaurants, bars, open houses!, etc. I’m always amazed at people who’ve never done these simple things solo...and I’ve been doing stuff like this since before smart phones were a thing, so there was no staring at a a screen to break the awkwardness lol. But I meet people every time I’m out alone...men, women, white, black, young, old. It’s a great way to break from your normal environment and connect with folks you might not otherwise talk to. Occasionally you’ll have an eye opening encounter or conversation

No. I don’t like Vegas.

I personally like Arizona - you can hit Sedona, which is gorgeous. Or go kick it in Phoenix to wrap up. Or drive up to Zion National Park in Utah. The Southwest gets overlooked by black folks cuz it’s not a Black area nor known for turning up, but Utah, Arizona New Mexico and Colorado have some amazing nature and, in some towns, very interesting culture due to the historical Mexican and Native American settlements

How do you start talking to people when you're solo

Can you hold a conversation if people talk to you? I’m not introverted at all, but when I’m alone, I’m usually alone because I want to be therefore I don’t go out my way to start conversations p, but without a doubt, when folks see a person solo, they feel the need to talk to you. And there are some cities where people travel solo a lot so folks always meet are ready to chat you up. Also, I don’t know your age or travel style, but traveling internationally and staying in hostels is a way to go

this be the best part. The stories you come back with while traveling dolo. traveling with the fellas or your peoples is fun. but when you go on a trip by yourself and end up in some crazy ass adventure just through the people you meet, the experience is just unlike anything else.

That's the riskiest part about traveling alone, especially if you're not familiar with their laws or customs. I was thinking about that girl that went to Mexico a few weeks ago, and wounded up brutally murdered by one of the hotel security personnel the night before she was scheduled to leave, at least he's a suspect so far. And she actually went with her cousin. That was suppose to had been a safe part of Mexico. I've been hearing stories like this lately with American tourist.

There was this cheap movie out 10 or so years ago about a bus full of American tourist in Brazil that got hijacked. They staged a bus accident, then the rescue squad turned out to be kidnappers, taking them to this lab to extract their organs, while alive. Being to Brazil once, this caught my attention.

City Breaks alone are great, went NY few months back alone - was great, not to mention if Airlines giving away or needing to move people to business class etc being a solo passenger increases your chances

How do you start talking to people when you're solo

Same here, well what happens to me is that once I'm out of my natural environment I find myself being slightly more outgoing. I speak a little more at waiters in restaurants, at the bar, in museums, etc...also if you're travelling you might ask directions to people and sometimes that opens up to convos. I usually also add some kind of group activity (usually a street-art tour, cool way to discover the city and I'm a fan, so you end up chatting up with people from the group). Otherwise make a couchsurfing profile and you can look up whatever activities are going on in the town you're visiting at the moment, sometimes it's just drinks, go in, have a beer, and if you're bored or whatnot just bounce. DId that last time in Madrid and it was cool, anyways people in those groups are used to travelling and meeting new people all the time.

The good thing for us introverts is that we know that there's a 99.9 % chance we're never gonna see these people again, for me it takes pressure off And in my experience, unless you really look like some creep people are cool and open for chit-chat, most are curious about people who travel. It changes from their day to day life too.

The Grand Canyon is unreal. You should go regardless.

You not going to Vegas, tho? Most people combine the Grand Canyon with a trip to Vegas.

Yes amazing, seeing it on TV doesn't do it justice to how vast it is.

Me and my girl were walking around the rim for HOURS, the guide showed how where we started and where we ended up.

Looked like we had barely moved haha, shyt is HUGE.

I'd love to go Belize or Cuba or Brazil solo. Its refreshing to not have to coordinate with other ppl or worry about if other ppl u wit are having a good time.
