All that shyt happening out in space n she took her sweet ass time to save herself..

Lets be reality if you were in the situation and you had to haul ass to save yourself you wouldn't stay on the screen staring blankly at whats happening for 2 mins...

and then there was the typical CAC drama only it was out in space

:trash::trash:

Watched it a few hours ago..pretty good. Sandra always come through and Clooney wasn't as annoying in his comedy relief gimmick. White girl sitting next to me predicted the return portion towards the end..

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
98% was for the special effects.

The story itself is basic. Critics eat actors taking basic stories and over acting them. Bulluck probably didn't go "full retard" with the character and did just enough to let the story flow.

Open Water was low budget and got a 72%. They jacked Open Waters "stranded" plot through in the big budget $$$ for the special effects, added veteran actors a la Tom Hanks in "Cast Away" and

Sandra proves only the fittest survives. Pretty much gathers the will to survive on her own after nearly accepting death

We I figured she was the only survivor. Early trailers showed both Clooney and her speaking. The closer it got to the movie, it showed Bullock more which meant the movie was surrounding her.

How did she get back?

Clooney knew more but her training in the simulator and what Clooney kept saying..willed her through. She had to get to those Russian and Japanese crafts after being hit with more debri..good angles on all of that. She made it to the Japanese escape pod and barely survived re-entry...landed in the water and limped away.

It's still not fukking c00ning you idiot. I could be wrong about black empowerment but you are still using the word c00ning like a fukking retard.
everyone uses c00n the wrong way. C00ning use to mean appeasing white people at the sake of your dignity. But a black movie that doesnt pose such requirement can be c00ning if it has black people acting silly.

Just seen movie. I liked the visuals and the perseverance of the main character but other than that I couldn't care less about the whole "point" of the movie.

Visually it's by far one of the most impressive movies I've seen in a while, not even because of the special effects (which are great btw) but because of the camera work. Children Of Men already showed Cuaron has a knack for great camera work but this was on another level. A lot of wanna-be film makers will be humbled by this shyt.

The story itself is basic though but that's no surprise. It tries to pass for a blockbuster but in terms of scale it's much more compressed and focuses mostly on the scientific element of surviving in space. In the second half it turns more into a metaphor for rebirth as Bullock's character gathers a newfound will to live, and some of the spiritual imagery was a bit too blatant and unsubtle for me.

Another thing that stood out to me was how they made a big deal of staying true to the fact there's no sound in space, but they went overdrive with the music, especially by putting loud musical cues over the crash/explosion scenes, probably to compensate for the lack of sound, but it felt more like overcompensating which took away the point of not having any sound.

Overall I'd give it a 4/5 because these issues don't really detract from the experience, but it's still a shame they missed the opportunity to really make the end-all of science non-fiction (!) space movies (because regardless of what so many reviews claim, it isn't).

So would yall consider this overrated then by the critics? (For those who seen it). I mean Matrix was grounding breaking at that time. But it didn't get as high ratings as this (though I believe her being a White woman to do with it as well). But I had the same reaction as most of yall. Visually stunning but dialogue, story basic (except Clooney shined to me). Though I did like that it was short.
