She's an employee man. She's still taking orders out here.
cause honestly, the O network isn't some heavy hitter like that. Its struggling and she's lost a lot of money trying to keep it afloat.
Plus, once oprah retires whats her legacy?
She's too invested in her own brand. Thats the problem and doesn't help much of anything or anyone.
Your problem is you're trying to define her legacy as some purely black thing and it will never be that because the very nature of her success is one of crossover appeal. She's made her mark historically as a blk woman in entertainment, succeeding in a way no blk person has before her and thats her legacy today. All these other business ventures are just attempts to raise the bar even more and thus increasing her legacy. I commend what she's attempting with her network. Whether it succeeds or fails is another story but she's tried and thats saying alot. She has no one to hand her vast wealth down too and that is what she has chose to do. I personally think she'll leave a trust that gives alot of her wealth to philanthropic issues of her choosing but i digress.
None of that has anything to do with your assertion that she's just some glorified employee that answers to someone. Who exactly does she answer to bruh? Discovery Networks because they are bankrolling OWN? She could walk away from OWN today and still be one of the richest women in the world. Business is business, and she is at least trying to generate something that will last beyond her years on this earth. Legacy. You think she'll retire? I actually think she'll die(or go down with the ship if it fails) still doing shows on OWN as long as she's alive and able, not because she has to but because she WANTS too.
If she's an employee then i guess there's no such thing as anyone being their own boss in your view.
