SEE. I KNEW this wasn't America.

I used to deal with this when I worked at Edelman and was on the Hanes and Nike account. I had to always be the only one to push back when they tried to do something like this at another firm -- but same account.

Canada and other international advertising and PR campaigns be TRYING it the most.

The entire campaign is kids being kids after school with "messy" hair

That’s different, she is an athlete competing and her hair was pulled back she wasn’t on a fashion show.

This ad though is badly styled, the messy look is a carefully crafted look and hers doesn’t look good.

Google messy look...it’s a hairstyle and yes judging by these pics their hair is styled. Just not the black definition of style.

Black hair styles are often overly structured and extremely pulled back because our hair goes “messy” effortlessly and we tend to have lots of volume.

White hairstyles want volume and that whispery/ethereal look. You have to model the style according to the hair texture and it was a fail on the black girl.
