Everybody’s arms must hurt from all this reaching

:mjlol:

They’re just kids, who run around play all day and make a mess. It seems like they were shooting for a “it’s okay if your hair is messy when you go to school or it’s okay to be yourself without having to make yourself up all the time”

I can see they could have gone with a messy look by seeing the white models’ hair. But this could also be a case where they didn’t hire a black hairstylist, and the white stylist didn’t know how to do her hair, or have the correct products. She could have still had natural hair, but styled natural hair.

So you can say they wanted to present an image of a black girl not looking her best, but I don’t think it applies to this case due to the state of the other girls’ hair.

i dont see anything racist, just a weird campaign with unkempt girls of all colors
And low key, by calling out this young girl's hair; Twitter is essentially on some a$$hole callous shyt by playing the girl like this.

Black women need to stop publicly embarrassing themselves with their hair insecurity

I wouldn’t call it hair insecurity. I wouldn’t let my child walk out the house with her looking like it hasn’t been brushed. It’s not about the texture. A child’s hair can look a mess and like their parents didn’t give any thought to their appearance no matter what texture of hair they have.

But it looks like all the little girls look like their hair hadn’t been done so I guess that was the point

Whats wrong with that little girls natural hair:jbhmm:?

Looks like they didn't comb or brush it at all. It's hella weird to do a campaign with some black kids and not have someone who can do their hair

Does appear that all the hair was meant to be unkempt.

I think this was a bold move to choose this as a styling theme, due to our history, our messy looks simply haven’t been seen the same as those with looser textured or straight hair. The only messy bun I have worn is the one I rolled out of bed with, that bun never left the house though.

I don’t think H&M was wrong or had bad intentions here

I think it should beg the discussion of the natural hair movement and if a change regarding how we accept and view our hair in all it’s states is needed.
