because hip hop in general was in a bigger and better place when "whoa" dropped. there were more eyes (and ears) on black rob as a whole. even the b and c class rappers were getting shine and dropping hits.

hip hop ain't in that same place anymore. a kid like bobby schmurda don't have that same type of audience. he don't have the same reach. hot nikka might be a hit with the french montana generation of rap listeners but that's about it.

meh.

hot nikka >>>> whoa

and there were songs in the same vein as "hot nikka" back when "whoa" was out. i dont know why people are trying to file schmurda under the same bracket as category as souljah boy and stanky leg. smh.

How many rap songs have become certified huge hits without a hook? The only thing I can think of is "A Millie"

That is a hell of an accomplishment

quite a few actually.

but i get your point.

The difference between Hot nikka and A Milli is that A Milli had a ton of quotables on it. I've heard Hot nikkas a thousand times and the only line I can remember is shorty give me neck till I pass out lol. It was a good song but the lyrics were mediocre and the beat is 3 years old. The best thing about the song was the dance. Dej Loaf prolly has a better chance at her song being labeled a classic. More quotables and a unique flow. Hot nikka was definitely one of the biggest songs of the year but you have songs like that every year.

"About a week ago" was quoted more than anything from " A Millie"

Nope, it's in the same vain as Crank that. 7 years from now were all gonna do:snoop: to ourselves when we think back to the times when we actually did that dance. Especially if Bobby becomes a one hit wonder
This song was nothing like crank that

It was cool for a couple of spins, then quickly became redundant. NY didnt even have a proper anthem track for 2014.
