Advancement in technology is meant to be a form of progression in our growth, but it seems the opposite is the case with this generation. I might be wrong, but based on my own observation - it seems as we continue to allegedly advance as a people, we're getting dumber as well. Yes, we're reinventing the wheels to create all kinds of superficial terms/things to mask the depth and real form of advancement we fundamentally lack (thanks to crazy liberals)...however, there's no real growth. We're still as backward and savagely as those from times past. The rate in which people are being savagely mauled to death today is no different from what they were doing in the Victorian era, albeit we're just more sophisticated with it.

Education is at its lowest point and you can't compare the quality of education in say, the 60s, to today. Graduates back then were brighter than what we've got today and it was more about content than the cosmetic ostentatious display with no depth, we've today. Institutions were stronger than what's obtainable today and shockingly the marriage institution is the biggest culprit. Music, which is meant to be an elaborate way in form of sound, passion, and depth to show advancement, is at nadir. And the whole societal structure that helped maintain law and order, and allow people to thrive ,is at the point of collapse - due to how we're trying to copulate divergent ideologies. The community based approach that ensured happiness and togetherness has been replaced with individualism. And people are getting dumber by day.

Is anything wrong with humanity or are we coming to the end of an era? Is another dark age approaching because our civilization most likely peaked in the 90s and noughties...and there's nowhere else to go than go down?

Let's be honest here. VERY HONEST.

World knowledge IS NOT ABOUT AVERAGE INTELLIGENCE. It never has. It is about how many people are considered smart and educated relative to the population.

In other words. Are there more smart people today then any other time period in history factoring population size.

The answer? Absofukkinglutely.

Throughout history 95-99% of humanity has been dumb as rocks. Today, while many people are lazy or entitled, the average RPG playing nerd is way smarter then 97% of the world population 50 years ago.

So comprehension and intelligence is on the rise and spreading to the common man at this point faster then any other time in history.

400 years ago a scientific team consisted of 6 priests and a bishop DECIDING what was convenient to tell the public.

Now we got tech firms in the hundreds of employees, ranging from engineers to straight up scientists competing to spread unfiltered knowledge. It can't even be compared. Technology has removed the demons of religion from our lives.

And for those saying technology will bite us in the ass. Nope, white people will. Technology might save us from their reckless use of resources because those cacs have no self control.

You want to live on another planet? You better prey they have the best gene scientist ever to get you inoculated before you touch an alien world or you gonna die in the first 30 days just from breathing their air.

Before you even make this thread, you need to define intelligence.
As any intellectual person knows, there are multiple forms of intellect that have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

I'll save my response for when the OP properly formulates the question, instead of responding to conjecture and anecdotal evidence

IQ is based on the ability to reason and hold information. There is no standardize IQ test for the entire world.

If you take poor people with crap nutrition and coming from worn torn nations...they are gonna be dumber than someone in the West...IQ has a strong correlation to living conditions and nutrition more than anything else.

These are the same people who flood the rich nations and out bred them...making that nation dumber...despite technological advances in the past 60 years.

People in the West aren't having babies to grow their population. All the population growth in the West is due to immigrants from low IQ nations...

Anybody can get accumulated to technology...we got tribes and shyt figuring out how to use iPhones...

The Neuroethics Blog: Intelligence Testing: Accurate or Extremely Biased?

best part of the article
While intelligence tests claim to be culture-fair, none of the tests created so far are one hundred percent unbiased. As Serpell (1979) found, when asked to reproduce figures from using wire, pencil and paper, and clay, Zambian children performed better in the wire task, while English children performed better in the pencil and paper task. Each group did better in the medium to which they were more accustomed. Pencil and paper IQ tests may be intrinsically biased towards Western culture.

Furthermore, while African-Americans have historically scored lower than white Americans on intelligence testing, this gap as been lessening in recent years (dikkens and Flynn 2006). This could be the result of one of two things; the first possibility is that average intelligence is increasing in the black community at a higher rate than in the white community (measured intelligence has been steadily increasing across all groups due to the Flynn effect). However, it seems more likely that post-segregation, white and black cultures have been merging, and schools have been integrated, meaning that white and black children have a better chance of receiving the same education. If this is the case, IQ tests are either measuring knowledge more than the test creators think they do, or the tests are extremely culturally biased, but this bias is lessening due to assimilation of white and black culture in America.

Not only are intelligence tests culturally biased, but they also seem to be biased in favor of neurotypical individuals. For example, while typically developing individuals generally perform similarly on RPM and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS), individuals with Autism typically score higher on RPM than on WAIS (Bolte et al. 2009, Mottron 2004). This is because while RPM is a visual task, WAIS is almost entirely verbal. Individuals with autism seem to use visual strategies to solve tasks and therefore have difficulty on tasks that can only be solved verbally (Kunda and Goel 2010). While this phenomenon is typically seen as a cognitive deficit, it is important to note that autistic individuals outperform neurotypical individuals on some visual tasks.

It's how you use it. Not everyone is deep into the perceived info gobbling couch potato ish. I don't think humanity is dumber, I think it's more afraid than it has been in awhile. Which, in a way, is a return to our natural state. We've built god.

heading towards the matrix.......

It's more like...the more technology advances, the more humanity disconnects. It's such a weird thing.

We have more contact with each other, yet the choices we make for the sake of attention is like an addiction.... So many fragmented groups...so much sensitivity, so little compassion, so little comprehension, so much pride....so little responsibility....

get it together..

You cant convince me that humans today are dumber than people who used to think the earth was flat, jews were the cause of the black death, burning people at stakes for not believing in god, etc...

Those were cacs, not all humans. The peak of cacs' intelligence was the Victorian era.

Africans have always known that the earth's somewhat round. You can check all the pyramid paintings that are thousands of years old to find out.

The problem with IQ tests, there are no standardized IQ tests and there will never be a completely unbiased test...

Tests that measure fluid intelligence are more unbiased...

Cattell Culture Fair Tests are currently probably the best Test for IQ because it focuses on innate fluid intelligence.

However, most of the differences in IQ between classes and races comes from socioeconomic factors...such as wealth, novelty of environment, education quality and nutrition.

Is not technology so much as it is the access to information...

We live in a world where people think a wikipedia page is gospel...even though anyone can edit a wikipedia page to say anything...

As far as IQ...eh...that should be a whole other thread cause some of the absolute dumbest people i have met in my life actually had print out of their high scores for IQ test hanging at their desk...

I get your point, however, I believe your perspective is based on the contemporary way of using complexities to solve simplicity - rather than the traditional way of solving simplicity with simplicity. The genius of a man is based on how simple he makes complex problems look - not how complicated he makes them look. A lot of us are just carried away by the superficial way, albeit devoid of depth, our era has made everything look.

Once you look at it critically, you'd see that this era is grossly overrated. Even if we were to decide based on science and the genius of eras, how come all the greatest scientists, aren't from this era? The Sir Isaac Newtons, Einsteins, Michael Faradays, Avogrados, Charles Boyles, Lavoisiers, Kants, Galileos, et al And I didn't even include the Moors and Arabs of the Middle Ages and the ancient Greeks and Egyptians. What's quite interesting is that they had less sophisticated tools but discovered more and laid the foundation for everything we built on. However, we've more tools but still can't surpass their ingenuity. That's something for you to ponder on.

Furthermore, based on what you posited about average intelligence - I believe you're basing it on quantity and not quality, while making my point for me. Let's compare the educated class of black people today to that of the 60s...can we really say we can measure up?

Technology has made us lazy and entitled. Combine that with cultural forces that have worked to make us more "sensitive" to opposing viewpoints and its a recipe for blissful ignorance. We have more information available to us now than at any time in history, but so many of us only seek information that confirms our own point of view. We come up with so many excuses not to examine all sides of the issue. We attack the messenger, we deem opposing ideas as hate speech, we dismiss information if it doesn't come from the right "source".

A lot of people just walk around in bubbles of their own ignorance and block out anything to the contrary. Deductive reasoning is dead

This sums it up perfectly, but I bet you someone is going to come in here like "Listen to Greek CAC pedophiles breh". Smh

I think Trump also showed us that we can still be human and, it exposed the fact that humanity is still as primitive/tribal as it was in the Stone Age. And we're still territorial as ever, regardless of the faux reality the blinkered liberals created.

the whole of humanity is probably getting dumber, but pockets of humanity are also smarter than ever.
