Mac Dre's career spans over 15 years.

-first rapper to release two albums on the same day. Did it a few weeks before Nelly did it, and did it independently
- first rapper to release an album from a prison phone
- was planning to be the first rapper to break the record for most album releases in a year .. don't even ask me how

15 years of constant releases and his catalog is consistent as it gets (outside of maybe Tupac)

Mac Dre's replay value is as high as it gets. He reinvented himself over the years and continued to gain popularity. He created timeless fun and a huge movement in the Bay Area.

Rappers to this day are HEAVILY influenced by him and his influence is growing... because of his lack of nationwide prominence few of these rappers feel the need to pay credit to him for laying down the architecture of the coolest parts of their style.

so he saw that nelly was about to release 2 albums in one day, so he hurried up and pushed his 2 cds out a few weeks earlier so that he could say that he was the first to do it?:pachaha:

:ld: yea i wasnt talkin bout ice in general, just some of the 80s nikkaz that is held in high regard music is wack, and old nikkaz get mad bout it, and say hip hop got the worst fans are just salty, they shyt on new rappers all the time but if we shyt on a nikka from the 80 who music didnt have longevity its something wrong wit us :ld:

who are these overhyped '80s legends that you speak of?

i never see any random '80s names get passed off as legends. never.

im not fully up on ice t's catalog. havnt heard all of his best material. i never really heard of him having a classic but i know he has some standout albums and classic songs. on top of that, he has IMPORTANT songs. and he may not have any certified classic albums in his catalog but he made better albums than alot of people that are constantly considered as legends on this site.

for all of you that dont consider ice t a legend, i want to know how you feel about all these mid-00s rappers, because none of them have any classic albums either. jeezy, wayne, T.I., kanye, game, rick ross, etc. and mind you, none of these dudes impacted the game like ice t did.

the '80s is actually underrated.

it was just as good as the '90s, and arguably better. yet, its as if most of the '80s artists never existed.

:heh: I agree with a lot of this post, but... you just had to drop one silly statement in there, didn't ya...

And yeah, the 80s get severely underrated here at least. Anyone old enough to actually recall and/or knows their shyt wouldn't do the same, but 90s-raised listeners act like nothing before then existed. Especially the way people have taken 'Golden Age' from the late-80s and turned it into the mid-90s. And it's funny that people say artists from the 80s had no longevity, cause a lot of them were still making hits in the 90s, and even had their shyt remade by 90s artists... AND the ones who had a long string of hits can still perform today.
