It's possible but that's a rare person that never gets down or unhappy about anything going on.
I get what ur saying, kinda like the protagonist in "Inside Out" not appreciating joy/happiness without sadness. But happiness is subjective, we all have a different definition for it, some people could experience it without the opposite polarity
People who say that.. are they liars?
Is there a such thing as a life free of difficulty or suffering in any form?
Are there really people out there who's lives are going great in all areas, relationsip, health, career, finances etc?
A life with no extreme difficulties or suffering is definitely impossible...no extreme difficulties all necessities covered & the common sense not to dramatize the unavoidable things
that sounds impossible to you¿

So some folks live smooth lives with "easily navigated" challenges?
I'm not trying to be difficult I'm really trying to understand what you're saying. That some people live lives free of any type of suffering because of their intellect and understanding?
nah my life has been the definition of a test haA life with no extreme difficulties or suffering is definitely impossible...
I don't know who these people are, maybe you're one of them, who's living a pain free life.
You should write a book on your secret to this heaven on earth way of living.
More like some people have, especially those who have endured hardship found a place of neutrality and relaxed judgement. That's more about emotional intellignce than rationale.
I been through hell in my short time on this earth. Things that might break you down might roll off my back and vice versa, it's all about perspective.People who are "happy all the time" can only achieve a fraction of what that implies by meeting adverse experiences with grace and acceptance when they do happen.

Is it scientifically possible to live with permanent happiness?
How can you be happy with adverse experiences at the same time?
Alot of you are dancing over the original question. Is it scientifically possible to live with permanent happiness?
The question wasn't how some people got thru hard times and have common sense and a better understanding and appreciation etc etc etc etc...
Are these people Always Happy was the question
Is this dissociation tho?I'm sooooo good at distracting myself with happy thoughts while having a bad day. Its probably my favorite quality about myself even if some say it's delusional. Oh well it keeps me alive. But deep down I believe real happiness is more than just a state of mind.
I would be if I was wealthy and healthy
and cause I'm over 6 foot and darkskin I get ridiculed whenever I seem to look slightly annoyed
fukk i look like smiling 24/7![]()
Happiness is not science nor is it math.
The whole concept of that word is a mixture of very distinct feelings, such as joy, tranquility, pleasure, contentment, bliss and more. This makes it more so that permanent happiness is a juggling of all those feelings and knowing when to rely on which to preserve your "happiness".
But even the above doesn't delve deep into what happiness truly is, often happiness is a subversion of opposite emotions into the ones mentioned above. Like turning to contentment when you're powerless to change a situation, or relying on pleasure when you feel pain, or turning to bliss/tranquility when you're not able to physically move due to outside circumstances.
So it's not a matter of numbers, but rather knowing exactly when to rely on which aspect of happiness to remain...well, happy.
That's what I think the breh @SunZoo means when he talks about perspective.
