Whenever I use indeed they send me a link to the company's website to fill out information on their site. I've filled out so many apps and have only gotten 3 rejection emails so far, and no interviews.

I need more tips to finding a mechanical engineering job in my area. Right now I'm doing indeed, careerbuilder, and monster. I only get contacted for insurance and retail positions because I worked in retail before i got my degree.

I am going to update my linkedin since I haven't in awhile.

Thought it was only me.

With all the jobs that I do see a majority suck ass like retail or a job that wants 5-10 years experience.

Imma tell u this, I've been applying on indeed for over 3 years and have not gotten one job from them since. I might have gotten 1-2 interviews from them since.

Majority of my jobs are from the site itself and that's rare.

Idk what's going on in the world right now, but on one seems to hire for some reason.

Of those 3 indeed is easily the best imo..I wouldnt upload my resume on any of these sites, else they going to be hitting you up for all kinds of bullshyt. You can find decent jobs if you make use of the filters, I would always filter by salary and make sure im only looking at the most recent jobs, like jobs posted within the last week.

Been using indeed for years, I only use it as a directory to see which fortune XXX company is hiring and it forwards you to their corporate website.

Heres the thing I'm having difficulty with indeed with and I don't know if its a bug or what.

I'm trying to see what other jobs are there outside of Insurance claims but because I have been searching within the same field for many of my searches it seems indeeds algorithm has modified all my searches to only show insurance claims related postings even when I don't put anything in the search box. It has created this bubble that my search results are stuck in which prevents me from seeing jobs outside of my current field.

Due to this I have started using LinkedIn and my experience to Linkedin has been great because there are active recruiters who find you and try to onboard you quickly.

I would recommend using LinkedIn and Indeed in conjunction with each other.

I use LinkedIn and Indeed to find a job, but go to the company site to apply directly. I will use the info from my profile to import into the application if I can.

I have heard people find jobs on LinkedIn but there's a lot of fukkery on there too. I remember meeting a recruiter who told me to just add people and trade endoresements with strangers. I had already had it happening, but for someone who was trying to find me work, I thought it was strange that she was endorsing this as an idea. It's basically the professional version of Instagram lol

That's what i dont like about linkedin.
You cant go round messaging random people you arent connected with or else you end up looking crazy. I tried that and felt real rude and amateurish. I'm not gonna add random people eityer if it's sposed to be about business.
Linkedin just further promotes it's who not what you know :francis:

It's good for sales, warehouse, and industrial jobs. I'm an operations manager now. However, prior to this title I was a lead and supervisor in displays/packaging and I've found every single one of my jobs through them.

Breh just go to usajobs.gov and get a good paying job like half of us
6 cert IT brehs what y'all think about working for the Federal Gov. I'm looking at Tech and Software jobs and It seems you can get on at the lower payrates with just a degree. It's not 6 figures but don't Federal jobs have good benefits and still do pensions? Plus I see there are some Software jobs at the highest Payrate so I could hopefully work my way up. I also figure you could have a longer Tech career in the Public sector vs the Private sector :patrice:

Y’all acting like indeed is Craigslist jobs :stopitslime:. Indeed is the most popular and used job posting site. I’ve gotten my last two IT positions from indeed. But if your seriously looking why not post your resume to various job boards indeed, LinkedIn, ziprecruiter, dice, monster etc

I don't believe in uploading your resume online and just waiting for a response.
I've used Indeed, LinkedIn, Monster, Snag A Job, and Zip Recruiter. Upload your resume to all of these, but you need to be actually searching for the job you want and submitting your resume directly to the employer. Don't just sit on your hands waiting for someone to email you with a job offer. Those platforms should mainly be used as a way to gather information on who is hiring. The real leg work is still up to you.
