Is it a such thing as a rapper having an album with no skippable tracks, but.....

.....that album isn't his/her BEST album, and their album that IS considered their best, has skippable tracks?:jbhmm:

Was going thru Jay Z's discography and the question crossed my mind.

HKL Vol. 2 has no skippable tracks, but I don't consider it better that TBA or RD, which I skip "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" and "22 Twos" respectively.

Good question...for me, no lol. To me an album with no skippable tracks is usually fire from start to finish and has more replay value than an album with only 5 fire joints out of 10, so I would rank the former a lot higher. Consistency is king

One of my homies used to say something similar about Hell Hath No Fury and Lord Willin.

He didn't think HHNF had any tracks he skipped but he didn't feel like it could overcome tracks like Grindin' and I'm Not You (Roscoe :whew:). Virginia was my shyt.

I was gonna try an experiment if I ever got the time. I was gonna cut a bunch or artists albums down into 5 song EPs just for fun:

HKL:
1) Intro
2) HKL
3) A Week Ago
4) Coming of Age 2
5) Reservoir Dogs

RD:
1) Politics As Usual
2) Feelin' It
3) Coming of Age
4) D' Evils
5) Bring It On

My RD ep would still be better than the HKL ep, but the gap would be closed considerably

My Black Album ep would be a contender for the title tho:

1) December 4th
2) PSA
3) Lucifer
4) Allure
5) My 1st Song

:whew:

Ah right right I get what you mean, you basically trim the fat. :ehh:

For me it might go differently, like say if I tried to do the same for The Infamous and Murda Muzik. It would be impossible for me to pick 5 songs out of The Infamous because all the songs on there are great. I could make about 3 fire eps out of that album. Whereas for Murda Muzik It's Mine/Allustrious/Quiet Storm/Streets Raised me/The Realest would be obvious picks for me, because I bump those songs the most when I revisit the album.
