It's supposed to be my age group, the 23-28 year olds that were there when he blew up at the end of the blog era and graduated to the streaming era.

But when coloring book came out and he did the tour for it he cut his fanbase in half, if not more. The gospel influence would've been fine if it was a natural progression, but it isn't. nikka literally blew up off a mixtape called acid rap, and rapped like he was a nikka who was on acid. How you go from that to a youth pastor? :russ:

That hurt his career more than anything imo...Chance literally had a new persona every album and it felt fake. I always thought his ass was fake to me. Also Acid Rap is one of the most overrated mixtapes of all time....I stand on that.

I never was on board...then when he became a Shea butter twitterer thats when I really didn’t fukk with him.

I don’t hate many rappers but Chance can get the fukk on. :camby:

I liked Acid Rap originally but I admit now that really I only liked a few songs and I let the hype get to me. And I agree, I still don't know who the real Chance is. Is he actually a devout christian? Is he a drug addict? Is he a politician? I don't know anymore because his music is all over the place.

All I know is that last album was trash. Hot Shower was one of the worst songs I've ever heard on a relatively hyped album, and that was one of the best songs on his last album. :dead:

I know he's being sued by his old partner/manager, but is he still backed by Cara Lewis? He can't be

It's been a wrap since surf. Only superfans liked coloring book since it was mega trash with barely any good songs. He killed ALL his buzz from Acid Rap with one project. Couple that with taking all types of Ls, being exposed as a plant, AND continuing to release trash on top of that fukked up his entire trajectory. It's too bad because he should be on top too.

Him, more than many other people, has had the machine behind him from day one. I don't care either way but even I have had to look at this and be like, if there was someone 'ordained' to success, it was him. I like a few tracks from him but his skill level is no where near the hype that he has garnered.
yeah his hype was so forced and the fact he was nominated for so many awards (let alone win) for his "mixtape" didn't seem natural at all.

I only heard the snippets to his last album and couldn’t believe his team/label allowed him to release that trash. There’s nothing wrong with rapping about love, marriage and family but the execution was terrible and he felt that he could escape criticism which he couldn’t. I can’t remember an album in recent times that was universally shytted on like The Big Day was.

Going back to early on to his career..knowing who Chance is now, he was 100% a plant and at the time rode the blog era wave where the new rappers was embracing indie/hipster/edgy culture when in reality he was a clean cut dude with connections already so his comeup was manufactured.

Dude was promoting drugs and cigarettes like he was a hippy lol then he became a born again Christian and don’t even get me started on his bogus ass fight against the machine (record labels) when the nikka was being supported by Apple :mjlol:
