it all depends on where you live

where we live, ain't shyt, but go over to my mom's neighborhood and the surrounding areas and i see more people on that block with christmas decorations than there were when i was a kid.

only reason i would ever put anything up is if i had kids who wanted me to though. that shyt takes time and electricity ain't free.

a lot of people do those inflatables now though, which i think is way less creative than people got with it back in the day.

mfs having the same generic santa claus or snowman blow up in their yards, a lot less variety than there used to be.

People have lost their spirituality which makes it harder to get into the holiday spirit. Amazon same day delivery is the new Santa because it's all year round. So if you simplify Christmas to just getting things and Halloween to just candy then yeah I guess you would see it as dead.

There may be some truth to this. This generation barely having kids, can’t afford a house. Barely surviving the work weeks. A lot of the holidays stuff IS down. Neighborhoods aren’t as festive like when I was a kid

Most of the holidays in the past were anchored by investment from big box retailers... macys, sears, Walmart, toys r us etc.. half of them are out of business and the ones remaining have cut back and focus heavily on online shopping.

Malls are not popping like they used to and that's were in many cities you used to find the biggest Christmas tree displays. I think it's all tied to the death of retail and the change in our shopping habits.

The correct answers. The spending power and live interaction in general society is dwindling.

In all the neighborhoods I’ve been in this the least amount of lights I’ve ever seen, Halloween was weak too. I don’t think These holidays will carry over strong with the next generation.

Wow..in Brentwood and Franklin, they entire streets with nothing but SUPER LIGHTS. WHOLE front yards is ridiculous..mini mansions got a gingerbread man, Santa and a reindeer, dwarfs, and the Grinch in that big ass front yard portion...should of hit record on all that...

Ive even told ppl recently i cant carry on the traditions my parents had as kids cause i dont have a house to invite anyone to lol and my older siblings do shyt withbthey own families in their own houses

Christmas is still a big deal in NYC, especially in the tourist areas in midtown. Pedicabs blasting last Christmas and the Mariah Carey song. Macy's holiday displays and Rocafeller Center still draws huge crowds, etc.

No, depends on your neighborhood. Mines had hella Christmas lights. I think it's mostly grandparents in my area, so it makes sense.


Halloween decorations was up too, but trick or treating was dead here, but it was poppin in other places with a lot of kids
