Is it arguable that both Drake and J. Cole are better songwriters than Kendrick?

Drake, I think so yes, there is a case for that, he is very good and keeping to the theme of a song and keeping your attention all the way through. That "look what you've done" for example is as brilliant as it gets, for these new school rappers at least.
J.Cole, no way. I think he's a level or two below both of them as far as being an artist is concerned.

Its arguable.....

I think both Kendrick and J. Cole are both starting to coming into their own as songwriters

I mean they are both pretty lyrical, but I think they have finally gotten comfortable with keeping their songs lyrical but yet entertaining...

I really think the key is the hooks, they both were making really good songs but they normally didn't have that hook that keeps it in your head... I think they both have gotten a better grasp on it now

Drake and Kendrick are veryyy close in songwriting. I think I'd give the nod to Kendrick though, because he centered an entire album around a tightly knit concept.

Cole though? :laff: :mjpls:

I think you could also make the argument that Drake is more lyrical than Kendrick :mjpls:

I think lyrically is a lil nicer than both but I think that's because his music is more experimental than both. But it can be argued that they all more lyrical than each other. I think Kendrick when's hands down in the flow department.

I can't see it...Kendrick has shown an elite level of songwriting where he's able to convey concepts and/or stories into easily relatable and musically effective songs...to me, you're just not gonna find much better songwriting than Swimming Pools far as mainstream contemporary hip hop goes...GKMC gets the nod over both of Drake and Cole's first 2 releases in that department IMO....songwriting is kendrick's chief advantage over most the game...it's a gang of random rippity rap muhfukkas that are technically better than him on just rapping shyt (take a guy like Los on Bad Boy), but aren't anywhere remotely close when it comes harnessing that lyrical talent to craft songs

You can argue Drake, but Cole aint a better songwriter than Kendrick. The hits speak for themselves.
nikka Cole has more hits than Kendrick :what:

Mark my words, Cole's 3rd album is gonna shut shyt down if he actually keeps to his word this time and gets outside production + features. Born Sinner is an 8.5/10 and he's been improving. Yall wont be able to deny him.
