France, isis attack
Truly tragic and horrendous, no doubt.
All over people are showing support.
Every1 on Facebook changed their profile pic to their current pic but with a France flag in the background

That's all great.

But this is daily life for Gaza.
Africans are subject to worse.
Many other colored countries too.

But sooooooooo much support for France.
Is it because they are white???

If not then why such a difference

White, I don't know but Western for sure. Most important media (whether it is websites (FB, Google etc.), major newspapers or news channels are Western ones, therefore they tend to focus on countries they are close to in culture. And even that. I looked up on Jeune Afrique which is a french-speaking African paper and that attack is the main headlines these days. Tuned in on Al Jazeera and it was too. Same with RT.

But I think that it's also because news thrive off extraordinary events. Iraq, Palestine or Syria are unfortunately war-torn countries and as sad as it is those kind of events happen (more or less) on the regular. France is (supposedly) a country at peace and a terror attack (of this magnitude on top of that) is unexpected and therefore out of the ordinary.

Also France is one of the most known countries in the world and is the most visited one so an event like that has an impact on more people considering this country's culture, history and "aura".

All in all, I don't think there is one single reason for that (above all if said reason is French people being mostly white) but more of a set of reasons explaining the difference in media treatment regarding the latest events.

The funny thing to me is France started a war in Cotes D'Ivoire that killed and displaced thousands of people...They played a key role in the destabilization of Lybia that resulted in the deaths of many civilians...

A couple of them get shot, and we are suppose to mourn and feel torn up...?

The white man keeps being given a free pass to kill at will, because his reasons for killing are some how more noble...

Didn't USA just drop a bomb on Afghan hospital that killed many civilians just to kill a couple of "terrorists"...

I support the West...We are the better culture and way of life, but let's call a spade a spade...We are the best killers in human history...We killed and will continue to kill more people than ISIS ever will...

Check the body count for WW2...

Exactly right. But people are too wrapped up in faux militancy and social media groupthink to consider any other reasoning other than "because they're white"
