fukk boi been gone. the usage of GOAT is tripping me out tho. Back in the day it was literally just black men and non-black hop-hop heads using GOAT to describe athletes and rappers

now you got women calling themselves "the GOAT pawg" or the throat goat. It's the double edged sword of access. I can download every Joni Mitchell album right now in FLAC, they can access our slang. it is what it is

and felt like a similar thing is happening to people. I remember in high school you had jocks, hipsters, nerds, gangstas, hip-hop heads, stoners, skaters, emo kids, dusty kids who loved anime and hung out near the art classes in the back, preppy kids who wore lacoste and abercrombie, cholos and cholitas, etc. There was a little overlap (some skaters were stoners) but there were more lanes to choose from.

Now it feels like people are getting consolidated into a few smaller lanes. Everybody listening to the same music for the most part, we watch the same shyt on streaming services, using the same slang, eating the same food, etc.

Now the only meaningful difference between people is gender, race & political affiliation. I've noticed in the last year I could talk to American women of various races, genders & types (goth, career focused chick, spiritual chick, hoodrat) and they all using the same slang terms and buzzwords to the point I know how they will respond to shyt before they do.

Everybody rock champion and forces / dunks now. Everybody want a "thicc AF goth gf" now wtf is that shyt. I thought this was just online but NO people talk like this in real life now. I dunno man i'm high and this shyt is weird

Strictly talking about that video that man’s complaints are not valid. As screens change and the number of devices change you different iterations of the logo. Imagine the white and blue airbnb logo popping up on a a smart watch, that shyt would look atrocious. The original Mastercard logo was also simple they modernized it. Homie sound like he want all the old mid 90s early 2000 logos swooshes and swirls back.

Now on to your point you just named more archetypes. Back in those days we all listened to the same music cause for the most part we all listened to the radio and watched the same countdown shows. We all watched basically the same shows. I could bring Total request live to anyone who was in high school in the early 2000s and have a conversation about it no matter the race. Lets see remember von dutch and spinning rims? Trends are trends for a reason.

Does social media make homogenization easier. Hell yes. But before social media advertising did the job and told you where you fell on the spectrum.
