Jay's album sounded very uninspired/lazy from jay's end, this new pusha album is pretty bad imo it sounds all kinds of dated, meek's new mixtape is pretty dated/the same shyt he and most trap artists have been making for years now. Drake brought a different sound in and so far he's one of the few artists ive enjoyed recently.
I even checked out some more underground works like prodigy's album, imo it was pretty good but nothin crazy, production wise it was pretty standard alchemist fare.
I enjoyed juicy j's album partially because hes always hilarious, but also because while the production was mostly "trap", it was a more refined/better executed version of it.
But anyway, the gifted was pretty generic, same with 2 chainz, KANYE was "original", but it wasnt that enjoyable imo in terms of listening, sure it was on some other shyt, but i wouldnt say it was revolutionary because i doubt many artists will go that direction.
Personally this might be the most disappointing year in hip hop for me, maybe ever. Even danny came weak as heelllll, he went straight hipster/indie pop, lost all of his edge, just became overall average. And worst of all im worried Q might be going down the same road.
