I loved AC2 and Brotherhood but could never bring myself to start 3
Is it necessary that I play Assassins Creed in order?

AC2 Brotherhood and AC4 are the only ones you need to play. And I have played them all. And beat them all. AC4 took all the best parts from all of them and made a great pirate game. And when you are not in the animus you can find out what happened in the other games. Like what happened to Desmond at the end of AC3.
all i remember from 1 is beating up 30 guards at one time
Ac1 had the best assassinations (especially if done undetected). The only problem was the repetitive work in between. The assassinations in the sequels are a little too linear and scripted. With that said there is no denying that AC2 is the goat (played through it 3 or 4 times).
I always called him ro ta han a chukAC3 made me mad cuz I couldn't pronounce the protagonist name.

The only one worth skipping is revelations, esp if you dont play 1. 2 and brotherhood are must play though. 3 is good too if you are patient. I heard from lots of ppl that blackflag is the best since 2.

AC1 gameplay was trash but its short, if you ignore all sidequests.... the story is worth playing through it though
AC2 they improved the game in all areas
Brotherhood(even better than AC2)
Revelations(setting for this game was epic)is a must play in order as well.. Especially since in Revelations they fully explain what became of Altier(guy from AC1) DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE nikkaS TELLING YOU TO SKIP REVELATIONS

a gamestop worker convinced me to grab assassins creed 1 years ago. he said it was like grand theft auto.
i got the game for like 9 bucks and even then i'd say it's worth skipping.
i never bothered to check out the rest of the series after that, but i've seen 2-revelations are all going for less than $10 now, so i'm going to give them a play in order.
