Is it possible to create a Black Party/Political Union to promote black issues on a National Level?

All responses are welcome.

A lot of times when i think about the black political power, i come away discouraged by the prospects. I feel that collectively we are more or less locked in to whatever the left offers us. This i believe does not incentivize any real change or solutions for the left to implement because black peoples issues are not on the forefront of the Left in general.

You can argue this but in general i belief the democratic party essentially just has us in their back pocket and does not really fight for our cause. On a National level i believe we need to separate ourselves from any alignment and begin to focus all our attention on ourselves on how to get politicians to acknowledge our problems and at least give us direct promises that they will attempt to solve them.

This is my idea for a national Political Union of sorts, or a black party membership.

The Black Party Union would be political organization that would gather African Americans of all backgrounds into a singular force in order to show a concrete voting block that could help sway elections. This in turn would give the Black community influence on a national level politically. Think of how a union works for a factory, it would be the same thing with this political union.

Union members would receive a card with their name on it as proof of membership, in order to stay in the Union they would pay 5 dollars a month and this money would go into funding any political push needed.I chose 5 dollars a month because even the poorest black person can spare 5 dollars a month, its not an exact science so the price of membership can change im just throwing an idea out there.

Now imagine if millions of black voters were members of this union, now come election season we have a Union that can walk up to both the Democrats and Republicans and say "What do you have to offer us?" With millions of Votes as our bargaining chip we can extract much better promises and guarantees i believe from elected leaders. We can also hold the democratic party hostage to an extent with our voting power, the Democrats need us on their side to win elections and we are one of their strongest and safest bases.

Now we can put some fire on their feet to actually do something that will bring change to our communities. All for 5 bucks a month.

Anyway just thought of this one the drive to work today, let me know what yall think.

Dumb?

Could never happen?

All opinions are fine.

The idea makes sense, but concerning the bolded part I think that is where this idea falls apart.
the moment you have a block of ppl holding together and voting the same way it can be easily targeted and corrupted.

this would take huge amounts of integrity by the leadership to with stand being "bought". as either the Dems or the Repubs wouldn't hold back throwing lots of money and "power" to those leaders to ensure they could solidify that "block" of votes.

and this is no different than any other "block" of votes that we currently see now. That Republicans and Democrats feel that they can now rely on certain groups because the individual "leaders" of those groups have been...."taken care of".

what REALLY needs to happen is ppl need to STOP thinking about "blocks" and start fighting for issues, REGARDLESS of the party.

once a aprty KNOWS they have your vote, you get lost cause they are too busy chasing that next vote.
don't give them blind followership, and rather hold them accountable for the promisies they make. and don't be afraid to walk away

But with this system the whole point of ot would be for the repubs or dems to "buy" us by giving us assurances on issies we care about. I agree that leadership w
In the union would have to be completely transparent and upstanding and this would be VERY difficult but i dont believe it would be impossible.

Currently black people care strongly about the issues and we strongly voice our opinions on them but there is no threat behind that. Come next election season the Democrats will visit a few churches, speak on racial inequality and police brutality once or twice and proceed to pass go and collect the black vote.

With a union leaders can walk up and say "we have x million voters nationally, if we dont like what you are promising they are all staying home election day. This is what we want... what can you offer?"

I agree leadership would be the hardest part. Hell the dems have already paid off the current black "leadership"

the black cat is my crown...
i like the idea, but i would increase the fee and add to the focus somewhat..... i'd add focus on making sure every eligible black person met whatever needed requirements to vote, ensure that each member was educated about the laws in his/her state, and that each member had access to a lawyer... there are some other things i'd add, but those are the big ones....

Not until we get a real grasp of the unique issues we face and devise meaningful solutions.

but we have a general idea of what our problems are, the problem is the party we are essentially locked into has no incentive to work on our needs. When demographics shift then our votes will have even less power as the Hispanic population continues to grow, currently what incentive does the democratic party have to fulfilling our needs? Literally none.

Something like a Black Tea Party would be pretty good. But we'd need to find 3 to 5 specific, concrete issues (its' solutions) to bring to any political party to be as effective as possible.

Our vote is the only leverage we have and it’s dwindling...

Outlook not so good...

exactly why we NEED to make moves now, once the latino population overtakes us the democrats will throw us out like garbage.
