TLR is a cesspool. HL is only marginally better. There's at least the prospect of a halfway decent discussion here, for a period of time, before sexist and homophobic slurs start flying and people choose ignorance over an honest evaluation of arguments and evidence.

For a subforum called "Higher Learning," the standards should be much, much higher.

This election has brought out the worst in people, and not just here. And actually, for good reason. Any support for Trump automatically indicates something is wrong with you in some fashion, whether it be actual racism or cognitive dissonant delusion.

Part of the problem is that our poster base is small and very Balkanized. The same people talk about the same topics and that combined with the real consequences of this election makes emotions run high. When you know someone undocumented and care about them and their family and some moron is posting racist st0rmfr0nt memes about them in support of a candidate that denies their humanity you're going to feel some type of way.

When you have a group of posters who support a candidate that will hurt people you identify with or care about, whether it be black, brown, low income, Muslim, whatever, that makes people lash out.

It's also hard to have a conversation with people who intentionally obfuscate and insult, while maintaining a presence here in support of a candidate that clearly represents (to them), essentially, evil.

There is no dialogue to be had with Trumpset.

The problems predate this election cycle by a long time though. I've been dealing with people's willful ignoring of arguments and evidence and trolling since I started posting here in 2014. :francis:

Certainly the flood of alt-right posters made the board way worse.

I definitely blame Trump for @Mephistopheles using racial slurs and wishing someone's Jewish grandmother was thrown into an oven during the Holocaust so that poster never existed.

You denounced that, right?

Or am I just obfuscating?

Naturally, if you care about or identify with the Muslim, surely you care about or identify with the Jew.

Cognitive dissonance isn't mental illness. Racism I guess could be considered as such. But that's besides the point.

It's YOUR candidate that has dumbed down the discourse and HIS supporters, not anyone else. There is nothing even remotely intellectual about Trump, and he tends to attract easily-duped sychophants who defend him no matter what without an ounce of intellectual vigor or honesty. There is no higher-level discussion to be had with his supporters, at least on politics. None.

And even if you morons were capable of actually intelligently defending or supporting the president elect on his own merits WITHOUT "But Hilllary" false equivalences or projecting your own beliefs onto his vague, hardly intelligible statements there STILL would be little to say to you. This is especially true when considering the real-life implications of his presidency. Why the fukk would I want to have a reasoned discussion with someone who supports policies that would make me, my family, and my friends' life worse? Why would I want to talk to people who support someone who calls people I know, real people with dreams and pride, "anchor babies", denying their humanity? What the fukk do I have to say to you? What do I have to say to someone who doesn't care about the lives of poor and non-white people, and is proud of that?

You are my enemy, the enemy of reason, and the enemy of justice. fukk you.

That was completely out of line. Anti-semitism is wrong. But don't act like you don't laugh it up when @88m3 is essentially being called a kike by your fellow Trumpset members.

It's not about right and wrong with you Trumpset people, it's about us vs them.

Regarding my telling Ill his grandmother should be stuck in an oven, that was in response to being repeatedly called Kumal or whatever.

I have no issue with Jewish people. But I'm not apologizing for it, it is what it is. But you can't say racist shyt then play victim when someone responds in kind.

Of course in typical fashion he responds with "keep it classy." Typical white man throw a stone and hide your hand bullshyt.

Whether or not my comment was more severe or offensive than his or not is irrelevant. Either comment can get someone punched in their mouth. shyt, I've stole on people for less as a kid growing up.

So fukk outta here with this degree or scale of racism shyt, as if there's somehow an acceptable amount of racism. Either ban racist comments altogether or let them rock with impunity. I'm cool with either.

Sidenote: since everyone is getting all high and mighty about racism now, I find it funny that nobody has said one word about Cactain fakkit calling me Apu and all types of stupid racist shyt about curry, fukking goats etc. like almost every day for the past year or so...even the OP who was been dapping racist posts about me for a while now up until literally today before apparently only finding his conscience after my comments to Ill. I wonder if he's in e-blackface too like Cac.
