TLR is a cesspool. HL is only marginally better. There's at least the prospect of a halfway decent discussion here, for a period of time, before sexist and homophobic slurs start flying and people choose ignorance over an honest evaluation of arguments and evidence.
For a subforum called "Higher Learning," the standards should be much, much higher.
@Mephistopheles You gonna tell this dude to toss his family in the oven?![]()

This election has brought out the worst in people, and not just here. And actually, for good reason. Any support for Trump automatically indicates something is wrong with you in some fashion, whether it be actual racism or cognitive dissonant delusion.
Part of the problem is that our poster base is small and very Balkanized. The same people talk about the same topics and that combined with the real consequences of this election makes emotions run high. When you know someone undocumented and care about them and their family and some moron is posting racist st0rmfr0nt memes about them in support of a candidate that denies their humanity you're going to feel some type of way.
When you have a group of posters who support a candidate that will hurt people you identify with or care about, whether it be black, brown, low income, Muslim, whatever, that makes people lash out.
It's also hard to have a conversation with people who intentionally obfuscate and insult, while maintaining a presence here in support of a candidate that clearly represents (to them), essentially, evil.
There is no dialogue to be had with Trumpset.

Way to raise that level of discourse by calling millions of people who wouldnt support a war criminal mentally ill...ever consider YOU may be part of the problem?
I definitely blame Trump for @Mephistopheles using racial slurs and wishing someone's Jewish grandmother was thrown into an oven during the Holocaust so that poster never existed.
You denounced that, right?
Or am I just obfuscating?
Naturally, if you care about or identify with the Muslim, surely you care about or identify with the Jew.
That was completely out of line. Anti-semitism is wrong. But don't act like you don't laugh it up when @88m3 is essentially being called a kike by your fellow Trumpset members.
It's not about right and wrong with you Trumpset people, it's about us vs them.

I'm Sorry"Apu".
