Is it safe to say 98% of the Neptunes beats aged awful?

Swizz got the type of beats that hip hop heads and other producers hate but the "normal" people like :skip:

hahahahahaha... it's crazy to see how his easy bake oven beats have been copied and even praised when they are as simple as it gets.

:pacspit: at this thread.

They def. have some archaic soundin' shyts in their catalog, but most of their biggest hits still rock, and some of the joints that weren't that big as well.

I'd take late-90s/early-2000s Neptunes and Swizz over most of these current slow, same-ass sounding trap beats that everybody swears are so hot recently.

Any old sound sounds "dated" compared to now. There's hardly any music from the '80s or most of the '90s that sounds like it could come out today sounding the same way and be a hit... and if anyone believes that, listen to the radio for a couple hours. There's music that's aged badly, and Neptunes have some that did, but I sure wouldn't say 98% or even 50% of it did.

A lot of early 90s beats still sound great to me why because there good beats not some shytty game sounding 16 bit cartridge sound mixed with the sound of fakkits blowing each other like the neptunes beats

Neptunes beats are timeless.

:childplease:

Thread is on point. It's not about whether the beats were good at the time or not, but it is incredibly easy to listen to a Neptunes beat and tell exactly what year it was from because they sound so dated now.

Timbaland and Track Masters beats didn't age particularly well either.

Neptunes weren't the best when it came to sound quality. This is why some beats sound really shytty and others, like ones that were made for Jay, Luda, LL or any other major label artist has that crisp sound to it.

Neptunes beat + good studio engineer = timeless beat

Other times, like Grindin, they just got lucky.
