Half Life Alyx was probably the most state of the art game released in recent years. Valve still maintains a high quality when they eventually sit down make games.

It was pretty much Doom:Macintosh edition. Great trilogy.

Because of its age, you might not enjoy it. If you can judge it by the period it came out, its amazing. You can see a lot of ideas in Halo that were established in Marathon.
