Is it true most black folks don't like horror films?

Villa Straylight.
My bro and cuz used to have me watching child's play and nightmare on elm street. Then my dad showed me The Thing and I was hooked. But as I got older I found fewer black folks who enjoyed the horror genre. Why is that?

I hate them personally

I didn’t always feel like that though

A couple of them put me off them permanently

Can someone explain the appeal of horror movies to me? Is there a reason you enjoy watching people getting killed? Is it the unexpected jumps? I never saw the appeal in movies like Saw, Friday etc.

Serious question, what do you get out of it? Horror is probably my least favourite genre.

Cheap adrenaline without having to fight a nikka at best, comedy at worst

I am not into that kinda of horror movie...saw...cutting parts, bleeding. Nah. I love something that hit you like a thrill...slowly creeps up on you and boom scares you. ghost kinda like horrors. haunted.

:ohhh: you might be on to something ..

Only horror movie that got me in my adult life was Get Out :lolbron::yeshrug:
Even that I would call that more of a psychological thriller (which I would enjoy).

When I think of the horror genre, I think of the cliche “turn a corner, thinking someone’s there but it’s a cat, then a second later the murderer is behind you.” It just seems predictable and boring.

I just don’t see the entertainment in knowing a bunch of people are about to get killed.

Movies like The Thing are more psychological movies than horror. Yeah they all get killed but it’s the suspense of trying to figure out of who The Thing is.
