Suge used the big scary dude formula to become an active and usefull ally in the industry. He then used his hood ties to isolate him from direct violence. He took everything from Eric except that Eric was able to do it with class and move in silence. Something Puff was originally taught , but decided to take the Suge route.

I got my answer from this thread. Shawn was down with Jimmy/Jack. He was the one they used to lure 2pac to Quad the night he got shot. Pac/Suge had Eric B and other street duded down with them for DR East. Shawn mentions the beef between them and Eric. Also, Peter Shue n his Funk Flex interview mentioned getting at Suge while in NY to let him know that they wasn't all punks. Peter later got cool with Suge. All of this lines up with what Shawn said.
