Y'all may or may not be Christians so may not find this applicable but the Bible recognizes the differences in gender and what they require in marriage. The Bible specifically calls for men to love their wives. But doesn't command wives to love their husbands back. It actually commands wives to honor their husbands. Men are only called to love. Women are called to honor. Honor would include loyalty, faithfulness, respect, deference, humility, etc. I think this speaks to more of what men really need in a relationship because men are hierarchal by nature. Whereas women are relational in nature. So women need love, men need honor. So the OP kinda hints at it. Honor assuages a man's ego. So the OP is basically saying his Ego would be assuaged by not being loved by a woman but honored in a way that makes him feel desired.
