Is it weird to start college as a older breh ?

I went back when I was like... 30. I just went to classes and then lived my normal life. I didn't try to do activities and shyt because that is weird. Also, when you're older, if you have a certain level of maturity these legal teens really come off as teens to you and there wasn't really any desire to get to know them personally or hang out with them. Like I said, shyt would be weird.

Youre in your early 20s though breh. I'm sure you'll be fine. I thought I was going to come in and see you say you're 30 or 40 and maybe there would be a discussion worth having. . Dude you're still in their age group, just a little older. Just act like you failed a year.

It ain't strictly about you but the city of Grambling and the areas around them are rural places with nothing going on so you have alot of "youth" in the Area that like to go hang out at the school, chasing hoes , parties , trapping , etc that can be on some bs. Southern University has a similar problem

Not at all. I went to community college after graduating high school in 2016 and I wasn't prepared at all. I dealt with severe mental health and personal issues that caused me to drop out two years in. Worked full time for a year before going back to community college in 2020, got my associates May 2021, and now working on my bachelor's and looking at a May 2023 graduation at the age of 25.

Point is that uni is a marathon not a race. Just keep trying and be patient because you'll get yours and you'll be looking back at how far you came to get to this point!

It's never too late to attend college unless you're dead!

There are people in their senior years going to college.


Now, it may be a lil awkward to live in a dorm if you are in your 30s and beyond, but if that is what you wanna do, then it is what it is!

Only thing I would tell someone who is deep into adulthood attending college is to get into a major that is going to help that person make $$.

I wouldn't recommend any humanities majors. But, anything computer or science related? Perhaps..

I don't regret going to college and I value the experience, but if I was to do it all over again, I would go to trade school or if I did go to college, get a degree that would prepare me to start my own business.

If college is something you wanna do, then so it. Maybe you could work somewhere who can help finance your education nor get some grants, scholarships, etc.?

It probably makes sense to go to college in your early 20s rather than your late teens.

A kid graduates high school at 16 or 17 and they're supposed to take on thousands of debt as they try to figure out what they want a bachelor's degree in?
As they're trying to figure out who they are?

Hell yeah it makes more sense to take on that challenge at 22 or 23. I don't think it's weird. It should pretty much be the fukkin norm.

Yeah I wish I would have waited until I was a bit more mature to go. I'd have graduated with a higher GPA and took on way less debt. Going the Community College route might have been best for me . But I got a lot of life experience out of it and learned how to fail and get back up.

I taught at a university. I've seen 30+ year olds attending, and it's awkward. They are also so behind the times that they have a difficult time understanding the material. 22-23 is perfectly fine though. I'd live off campus though. Freshman year dorms kinda suck, and everybody is gonna ask you to buy alcohol

I get your point. I think maybe my perception is a bit skewed because I was teaching stats. If you have forgotten math (like many of my older students had), you're just not going to be able to do statistical formulas. That could be overcome with taking remedial math classes again, but not everybody does that.
