having government social programs does not equate to having an economic/political system of socialism or communism. safety nets are a hallmark of any civilized society. how much funding a country gives to their social programs is up for debate. the greatest trick the right wing ever pulled was convincing people that those who wanted better/more safety nets = socialist. same shyt they're doing with critical race theory, BLM, and claiming the democrats are the party of racism and not the gop, twisting shyt to fit their own narrative and saying it over and over until it becomes mainstream thought

same dudes who are against 'handouts' never say jack shyt about corporate bailouts. they cry about how the government should take care of infrastructure and homelessness and poverty and veterans instead of bringing in refugees but their focus is never on how much money is spent bailing the rich out, how much is spent on israel, how much is spent on the military. shyt is insane and makes no sense

you mean the chick who graduated top of her class and was working as a waitress/bartender before she got into politics?

Then got made fun of by republicans for being "just a bartender/waitress" when she got into politics?

Now the narrative is that she's a silver spoon spoiled kid pretending to be one of the people?

do people even research her history before they make social media posts?

EDIT: heres the guy who is calling her an ivy league yuppie...

There’s no such thing as clean hands in politics as you have to play and do dirty things to eventually get to where you want to go. When the time comes, she will fall in line just like everyone else before her. Lobbyist and businesses run Congress. Always have, always will.

She exposed the system and herself already when she ran to Twitter about not getting to read one of those bills before voting, yet still voted yes for it anyways. Rashida Tlaib was the only Squad member who stood by her convictions and voted no.

The issue is Congress doesn’t pass stand-alone stuff. Everything is omnibus.

So while a bill has a lot of shid you don’t want. You may vote for it cause of stuff in there you do want. It’s a terrible way to legislate and this goes back..

At the end of the day she doesn’t get funded from lobbyists and special interests. Say what you will about AOC, Rashida, Ilhan, etc but they aren’t selling themselves out and their constituents.

All her fundraising is online and in millions through small dollar donations. She’s one of the few in Congress along with her squad mates and some others who aren’t spending half their days dialing for dollars. Actually doing committee work, preparing well thought questions and preparing amendments to some of these upcoming bills.

They don't have to answer to lobbyist or special interest groups right now seeing as they are a small fish in big pond. Let them get more power and influence in Congress and see if they still won't have to answer to the people that really run the show.

As I've said before, they're going to have to get their hands dirty and play the game if they truly want to get and accomplish where they want to go. That's just how Congress operates as lobbyist run Congress. Always have and always will. That's not going to change because AOC and the other squad are in Congress and want to "inspire" change. There have been people before them with the same intentions coming into Congress that ended up falling in line as well, so they will too.
