I think financing an older car like the one in the OP is an awful idea.
but a car that's 1-3 years? of course, who the hell has 20k cash wtf. lol.

No, you're not wrong. I like the older body styles of BMW. The newer styles are very bland to me.
I feel the same way about Lexus. I do not like the new body styles, but I would love to get a well maintained 2000 Lexus ES300 or Lexus SC400 with that almond tint on the windows
. I could see myself driving one of those for a very long time.
Matter of fact, I like the body styles of cars moreso in the 90s/early 2000s than I do now. Today, most cars don't stand out. There was a day when you could see the side of car and know what it was. Now, you can't tell a luxury sedan from an economy one.
