What's wrong with being proud and happy in ur own surroundings, where you grew up.
I'm not FROM the hood, but I've lived in somewhat rough areas. Anyway, u should be proud of who you are, and if being from the so called hood is part of who you are, why not be glad about it? I wouldn't say proud cause its not good to be too proud but just be happy with who you are.

Did you read my post? It clearly says "I don't think there is anything wrong with being proud of where you're from even if it's the hood."
What you quoted and are attempting to critique is me saying that I think there is something wrong with complacency and not try to improve yourself/your surroundings.

The point I'm trying to make is that you don't need to leave the hood to be happy and successful. You could still stay. I mean, some neighbourhoods, its too crazy but there's nothing wrong with being happy staying where you grew up at.

I live in the hood and i have no problem with it.
my street is full of older blacks and some mexicans who keep the street clean. yeah there are 1 or 2 houses where u have ignorant nikkas but they respect the people on the street.
I be at work and i expect the white people to be like
but to see other black people look at me like 
is sad.. most of them live in areas they can't even afford but they don't want others to say to them u live in the hood and think it's bad.
