If you looked at Kobe's career stats, he's not half the player Jordan is.

You can't say that Kobe's career stats don't properly represent his talent due to his rookie years and then act like Gasol's career stats properly represent his talent level. Those Memphis teams weren't very good and Pau had unfortunate injuries.

So are career stats a fair way to gauge players or not? Is it ok to judge Pau's talent relative to those hundred players better but not ok to compare Kobe's career stats to Jordan or Lebron?

Man, people can't even give Kobe a back handed compliment around here? No one is saying he's a better scorer than Jordan or any other greats, but when he's on it's one of the GOAT level peak performances we've seen. Jordan, the GOAT, has plenty of GOAT like moments, but Kobe is one of the few players that can say, for even just a moment (game/week/month) he can look just as good if not better.

Kobe's career PPG shows that he has had waaay more off nights when compared to other great scorers. Only the stans will try to say he's still better overall when looking at raw stats. But the heads who been watching the game for years see performances like Kobe's 81 or outscoring Dallas through 3q, etc etc. It's one of the craziest things we've seen to date in the league.

Melo's kinda got some of this in him as well. Melo isn't close to being a GOAT scorer, but when he's on he's one of the funnest players to watch in the last decade.

Wrong, it shows that he's the first guard that came straight out of high school and came off the bench his first 3 seasons.

Kobe averages like 29ppg as a starter.

Considering his 81 point game multiple 60 and 50 point games. You could bring up Jordan but idk if he's getting 81, 62 in 3 quarters, 40ppg months, etc.
