I was with you until the 40ppg months. Mj averaged 37 ppg for a whole season. He had to have months in that season where he averaged 40ppg. Also another problem with MJ is his teams for the most part were too good and he was too efficient to be having multiple 60+ games. Once he was at 40 the game was likely over by a longshot. There's no way we're to believe a person who averaged 37 on 48% shooting couldn't have gotten 60+ if that were really his goal.

:dahell:You don't think MJ ever tried to go for as many points as he could go far breh?

Funny how those scoring bursts never happened when the stakes were at their highest: Playoffs and Finals.
ONE 50-pt game in the playoffs and ONE 40-pt game in the finals... over 20 seasons:jbhmm:
Still haven't heard any of the Stans explain this one.

His best scoring games almost all came in those 2 years where they had no expectations to contend and he got to chuck with no conscience. His shot selection was such that if he made a single shot, they'd announce that he was heating up and if he made two in a row, they'd say he's on fire. It shouldn't be that difficult.

He's one of the few guys you could literally give the ball to every single time down the court and still win some games, but that style of play is overrated beyond belief.
