Bean on fire was a sight to behold. Love how he had that instinct to be like fukk and put them shots up. I mean it in a good way when i say that nikka had the soul of a ball hog :banderas:

Its not like Klay just stands in a corner and spots up. He is running around all over the place to get his points.

Some people are just so enamored with things like and1 and hero style isolation ball that they find real team basketball to be boring.
Was there something NOT to like whenKobe blacked out? Like seriously? It wasn't entertaining or special at ANY point in his playing career to you? :mindblown:

No it's not that, he definitely had one of those polarizing styles that people watched whether they loved him or hated him. I just never saw him as one of those guys that got in those modes where they couldn't miss. His style of play wasn't really conducive to that.

At his hottest, he was very efficient. I took a look at the games where Kobe scored 50+ in under 36 minutes. I really don't see how you can say that especially after watching all 4 of these games but the top 3 in particular.

log.jpg

55ppg on 61% shooting with an average time played of 33mpg.

That's pure fire.

That's a bell curve.

Kobe has 109 games where he took at least 30 shots, 387 games where he took at least 25 shots. You shoot that many shots that many times, you HAVE to hit 60-70% of your shots once or twice. You can't hit exactly 44% of your shots every time out.

I just checked it:

Times Kobe has taken at least 25 shots and made over 60% of them: 13

Times Kobe has taken at least 25 shots and made under 30% of them: 18

/thread

We're talking random variance on a lot of shot attempts, not a hot shooter.

Kobe on 25+ shot attempts:

50+%: 105 times
40-49%: 168 times
below 40%: 118 times

On the other hand, Klay only has taken 25+ shots 21 times

50+%: 12 times
40-49%: 7 times
below 40%: 2 times

If you expand Klay's results to get a little more volume, and look at all his games with 20+ shots:

50+%: 34 times
40-49%: 23 times
below 40%: 21 times

Im going to say it again, YES, Kobe is the greatest.

For all you saying "Klay"

If Klay had to run a team as an alpha, and being the best scorer on the team, he would not be having these type of nights,

He benefits from having Steph drawing attention (and being able to score from almost anywhere) he benefits from Drays playmaking, and now he's benefitting from Durant drawing attention (and scoring ability)

Klay couldn't create a shot for himself to save his life,

He moves great off the ball, But not so much with the ball.

Please.

Kobe was the offense. Give me the damn ball, oh there's 4 guys in my way? Idgaf ima dribble around 2 and shoot over the rest of the team, and make it.

Klay will never be on that level

Right. You got a team with Kwame brown, smush Parker and I don't even remember the others, defenses know who they will must likely have to deal with.
You got Klay getting hot, ok you double him and guess who's open
Oh yea, Steph curry the 2 time MVP
Kevin durant 3x scoring champion and MVP shooting like 50%
Hell draymond almost scored 30 as a 4th option in a game 7 against Lebron and cle.
Hell David west and Zaza can knock down a shot or two.
Hell Ian Clark and the new guy Mccraw can knock down a couple shots giving the opportunity
Hell Shaun Livingston can knock down a couple shots too.

No I am talking about style of play. Look at Kobe's "on fire" games.

It will look like:
Make
Miss
Miss
Make
Miss but got free throws
Miss
Miss
Miss but got free throws
Make
Make
Miss
Miss
Make

Its one guy just controlling the ball and there is a lot of clutter with the legit misses and the misses that get wiped off the stat sheet because of phantom fouls.
Harden's "on fire" games looking like:

Make
Miss but got free throws
Miss but got free throws
Make
Free throws because he got fouled and the team is in the penalty
Free throws because he got fouled and the team is in the penalty
Miss
Miss
Miss

Make
Free throws because he got fouled and the team is in the penalty

I'd say Kobe over klay because Kobe had to create his shot most of the time, compared to klay, who makes most of his shots off assists.

Klay benefits from having so many questions stars on his team since they can't double klay because the have to watch out for Steph, KD, and even Draymond

Nikkas really trying to make an arguement for klay over Kobe :russ:pathetic trolling that doesn't even rile anybody up. 81 points. 62 points in 3 quarters, 56 points in 1 half, averaged 40+ points per game for an entire month 3 times. Klay will never be the "on fire" scorer that Kobe was. This a nikka who was 23 and averaged 30 as a sidekick to shaq in the 2001 playoffs

Yeah I definitely wouldn't call Harden an on fire scorer either.

That's why it's a different argument. Even if you let Kobe play off ball, he would never have those Klay moments because he just wasn't that level of shooter.

It's also worth mentioning that while Kobe did see a lot of doubles, he didn't have his big scoring nights when teams were doubling him. In his 81 point game, the Raptors were demanding to but Sam Mitchell said no because he's a Stan and he was living that cuck life. Kobe did his damage in regular season games against poor defenses.
