Why would you want the guy that is more prone to taking a bad shot ie a shot that has a lower chance of going in in a key moment?
We've gone from "Bu...bu...but Kobe is more clutch" to "Bu...bu...but Kobe's percentage is lower in the clutch because he takes bad shots and that is somehow not clearly a negative thing"
Being too aggressive can be just as harmful to your team as being too timid.
Here are the only two stats that matter.
Kobe: 5-2
LeBron: 2-4

Re-read what I wrote, I was saying it's a "blessing and a curse" type of thing, and that what Lebron does (passing when the shot is too difficult) is indeed the right basketball play. But since we're talking stats, if the player Lebron passes to misses the shot, it won't show up as a miss in Lebron's "clutch" stats. But since Kobe will take that difficult shot, and might miss, it will show up as a negative in his clutch stats.
If you read what I wrote you'll see that the 2nd paragraph is a critic of how Kobe -and Melo- (and their coaches) approach clutch time situation (isos leading to contested mid-range fade aways)
I'm not implying the bolded at all. Just thinking about WHY Kobe takes more overall "clutch" shots than Lebron (including bad shots), and the reason is that he's made similar shots before. Bron is wiser in the sense that he will only mostly take makeable shots.
I'm a Bron hater and a Kobe stan, but if you understand what I'm saying you'll see I'm criticizing Kobe and complimenting Lebron on this one.
You said "it depends on what you want". Thats what I responded to. Why would anyone want the intentionally less efficient option?

Lakers, obviously. Got them 5 more rings.
It's just two different styles of players, ain't really that much to discuss unless you want to shyt on Kobe, if so you can carry on without quoting me![]()
Interestingly, the people that have reputations for being the most clutch usually come up on paper as being some of the worst. Kobe in the clutch will hog the ball, isolate often, and take nothing but difficult shots. Their offensive efficiency numbers go in the tank compared to what they are over the rest of the game.YOULL BE HARD PRESSED FINDING ANYONE WHO HAS ANY CREDIBILITY IN THE GAME OF BASKETBALL .. COACHES, GMS, PLAYERS .. WHO WILL SAY KOBE IS NOT ONE OF THE MOST CLUTCH PLAYERS THEY EVER SEEN AND DEADLIEST IN LATE GAME SITUATIONS .. LIKE I SAID, MELO IS SAID TO BE THE MOST CLUTCH EVER BASED ON STATS. U GUNA SIT HERE N COSIGN THAT WIT A STRAIGHT FACE BECAUSE THATS WHAT THE NUMBERS SAY YOUNG'N
People keep throwing out the argument that Kobe must be more clutch than LeBron because 5>2 but where are the finals wins that were caused by Kobes clutch shooting?
