Come on Austin Rivers was the #1 player in high school

He went to Duke

Hype was crazy for him at Duke and he was more well known especially after he hit the game winner vs Unc

Lavars antics really sold Lonzo and mad him a higher pick than he should’ve

And I’m saying worse case Lonzo ends up being Austin Rivers..... that’s not a bust

Rivers has really rebuilt his career in Hou, he might be ready to start on another squad

Yea I’m not even sure why I’m defending Rivers. He was supposed to be really good. I never understood the hate and he’s still young. Not to mention he just dropped 41 last night :hubie:

Saying Lonzo could be at least good as rivers might be disrespectful to Austin at this point:mjlol:

Yea I agree, you see his quickness and wonder why he isn’t better. He made the right decision leaving his pops.

Too early to tell. there's been point guards that can't shoot. Rubio, Rondo, Kidd. The thing is Zo has to learn how to completely control a game like Rondo and Kidd.

Best case scenario- Jason kidd.
Worst case- Rubio. So much hype for this guy but just isn't that superstar everyone expected.

Rubio was one who should've never been a starter for as long as he's been. He's a bust too. Rondo grew into his role. But right now, he's closer to Rubio than anything, but at least Rubio had a great Asst:TO. That will be his best bet, having a great Asst:TO....running a team like Calderon's non-shooting a$$

Kidd came into the league, the fastest player, and impacted the game without scoring. he a Grant Hill were dueling triple doubles. Hell, Mavs had like a 20 W turnaround.

He's not a bust yet, but people need to temper their expectations for him as a player. He can be a really good piece but he's not a star and that's ok. Even half decent point guards can make 100 million over the course of their career.

What people aint gon do is give him the what if treatment. Dude was a subpar PG all the way around. Blah shooter..couldn't go to the hole. No dog in him...

Only thing injury robbed him of is being a journeyman on his 9th team
he wasnt going to be an all star but even with all his flaws he had the makings of a solid starter or rotation piece. prior to this year his team had always been better with him on the floor. on/off prior to the two years missed +2.7 and +4.5. last year for chicago +9.7 which was probably a bit of an aberration but impressive nonetheless. he still has a positive impact defensively but its hard to be a positive when youre shooting 27.2% from 3.

not that theyre the same player, but deanthony melton has had a huge on court impact for the warriors this year despite him shooting less than 30% from 3. if i was the warriors i'd sign lonzo and see if he can fit and give you some positive minutes.
