Yep. He's no headliner but he will get in.

Should have given Crush his 93 push if they weren't gonna put the belt on him. He could really slam Yoko :heh:

I was just watching the "Over/Under Achievers" episode of Legends of Wrestling yesterday and they will completely shytting on Luger and saying he was a flop.

They said shyt like he wasn't really connecting to the crowd like they wanted, but every clip I've seen of him during matches the crowd would pop heavy for him, especially the kids.

I never really seen his WWF/E run but I did see his WCW run and I was very :ehh: about him..

So for folks that remember it, how was his run with the E a flop?..

The Narcissist gimmick was great. I wish they kept running with that.

He flopped because they started to hype him like he was the next Hogan during the summer of '93 but in his two major titles matches against Yokozuna, he won by countout at Summerslam and then lost by DQ at Wrestlemania. After that he feuded with Tatanka and then ended up teaming with Davey Boy Smith as the Allied Powers.

Luger never really felt like a good fit in the WWF, which is surprising given that he had exactly the type of build that Vince creams his pants over. I was a huge Luger fan in the early '90s but his WWF run didn't really click for me.

And, yes, he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Luger has admitted to his mistakes in the past and doesn't deny that he was out of control with ego and drugs during his career. He comes across as very humble, nice and apologetic these days.

Of course. He was rookie of the year in 86 I think. he is the GOAT US Champion. was ALWAYS over in nwa/wcw. His run in the WWF wasn't that great, but NONE of the Major nwa/wcw guys who came over in the early 90s had the kind of success you'd think they would have when they got there...flair, anderson, blanchard, windham, terry taylor, etc.

go back and watch some the reactions he got back in the late 80s/early 90s in WCW. and him beating hogan on nitro is one of the top moments in the monday night wars

I'll answer your question by saying this: I knew who Lex Luger was before I was even a wrestling fan.

for what he did to Miss Elizabeth he shouldn't even be mentioned in the WWE.

Let's be real. Austin beat Debra. Luger isn't alone in this.

Like someone said earlier, not a headliner, but he's definitely a HOFer. His name still rings with people that don't even watch anymore.

Watching this timeline on the network right now and he was pretty over (July-October 1993). I can't speak on the numbers, but from an entertainment standpoint, the problem was that the product as a whole was kinda bland. Michaels/Razor was just coming up, Bret was feuding with Jerry Lawler and Macho was on the bench. They should have put the title on him just because of the amount of time/effort they had already put into him. I guess they expected another Hogan right out of the gate and didn't get the return they wanted.[DOUBLEPOST=1397438042][/DOUBLEPOST]

Might want to reexamine the HOF then, there are certified killers in already :birdman:
