Is Mad Max: Fury Road Overrated...Or Nah?

But on the real I truly don't understand the insane hype for mad max at all. I thought it was good. Like a 7/10 but best picture? A masterpiece? I dont get it. I dont get it at all.Great action. Amazing stunts. Cool visuals but that's it. The story and plot is super fukking weak. The dialogue was nonexistent. Watched it with 5 other dudes and we came out like "well that was pretty good. Dont understand why it has a 97% or rotten tomatoes tho" Before the fanboys start telling me "Mad Max is supposed to be all action. It doesn't need a plot or storyline" I get that but to be best picture you need more. For example when I watch pineapple express I watch it to laugh. Nothing more. And it delivers. IMO one of the funniest movies ever. But would I say its one of the actual best movies of all time? Hell no. Even though it delivers on its goals and what I expect there is more to amazing movies than that imo. If Mad Max wins best picture it will easily be without question the most overrated movie ive ever watched in my entire life. That's all i gotta say on the subject

For me I do think there is a fair bit of overhyping coming from the award giving folks in an attempt to appear more populist but I have Fury Road squarely in my personal Top 10 best movies of 2015 and think is is hands down the best action movie of the year without question.

I think it's worthy of it's praise. Perfect movies don't exist, and nikkas can't wait to pull flaws to troll people who enjoy pure piff that overcomes its flaws.

I tried to get into it twice but couldn't get past 20 minutes of it. I was thoroughly bored.

I feel that movies (videogames and anime) have become so baren, stale, and mediocre these past years that people are so thirsty for a great product that they blow up products to be better than what they really are.

i was afraid to speak on it after i saw it a few months ago since i didnt wait to catch that neg train but ....

after all the coli hype i was expecting an A+ movie. It turned out to be a B+ for me. yeah its enjoyable and cinematography was A1, but it wasnt what i thought it was gonna be after the coli hype.

It is. As a fan of the original trilogy, it had a hard time living up to its predecessor. However, for a Mad Max movie, it wasn't bad at all. Probably a solid 7 or 8. As a stand alone film, it's awful. The cinematography is great, don't get me wrong. They kept true to how Mad Max's insane world should be, but there were a lot of unnecessary parts. Like Max's flash backs to a traumatic experience that doesn't seem to correlate with the other films. Not to mention how they didn't bother to explain it. The fact that this Mad Max is basically Mad Max: Fury Road 2.0 discredits it as well.

It's like how they did Riddikk in the image of Pitch Black to make up for that god awful follow up Chronicles of Riddikk (And I actually like CoR as a stand alone, but not as a follow up).

Think its overrated here, and i loved it...visuals were amazing and it was a good ride but is it worthy of movie of the year? I dont think so....still an excellent film and one ill revisit from time to time.

I saw it 3d in theaters and i thought it was very overrated. I have no desire to ever see it again

I thought it was OK. I wouldn't put in any best film of the year nominations but I never liked the original Mad Max movies.

So yeah, overrated.
