Bynum has a case.. when healthy
A healthy Bynum would fair well against Gasol
came to say thisA healthy Bynum would fair well against Gasol
Dwight Howard is the gift that keeps on giving.
According to a story courtesy Pro Basketball Talk, Howard, who finished 14th in Defensive Player of the Year voting, said that he found it amusing that Memphis Grizzlies center and brother of his teammate, Marc Gasol, won the award.
The news caused Dwight Howard to say its funny, but he wasnt offering his signature smile.
Its just funny, Howard said. Thats okay. We got next year and I got a long time. This years funny.
Howard leads Gasol in the conventional defensive statistics like blocks, rebounds, and steals, but the Grizzlies big man has a significant advantage when looking at advanced figures.
The Lakers center is more a pupil of the old-fashioned defensive data and feels that Oklahoma City Thunder forward Serge Ibaka, shouldve been the recipient for this season and the last.
Serge Ibaka with all the stuff he did this year, he shouldve been the guy to win it this year and last year, said Howard, though the award went last season to New Yorks Tyson Chandler. With the stuff hes done on the defensive end. I thought he was the clear cut winner. But people saw it otherwise.
He led the league in blocks. Thats what defense is all about, Howard said of Ibaka. He led the team and was number one in blocks this year. You cant play defense without having any shot blockers. He was the No. 1 shot blocker the last two years. Thats great defense right there.
I dont know whats more amusing, the fact that Howard finished 14th in Defensive Player of the Year voting or that he thinks blocks is the sole criteria for determining who the best defender in the league is.

what a dumbass
Watch games fam, don't be looking at the stats. Gasol is better than D12. They both have near equal defensive impact but Marc has more offensive impact. Better shooter, better passer, better post moves, better decision maker etc etc.
what a dumbass

If blocks was the criteria, JaVale McGee should be in consideration
Gasol is a defensive anchor and he may not have the stats but his impact is felt.
He needs to take more shots IMO.
Um your asking me to "watch games"... I'm a laker fan whos watched almost every game... Marc Gasol grabs only 8 rebounds a game... D-12 grabs 12... has more blocks, and scores more efficiently than marc by far... so wtf are you talking about?
When Dwight is at full strength/health, he's a more effective player than Gasol.
Gasol is clearly a more skilled offensive player than Dwight though, but that means next to nothing,
because so are Al Jefferson, Marcin Gortat, Andrew Bogut, etc, etc.
And I'd rather have Tim Duncan than Gasol as well, but Gasol may be preferable because he's not on any minutes limit.
It's clear you don't watch games, because all you're doing is posting stats with no proper context.
The rebound argument against Marc is the most tired one of them all. And you starting to sound like Dwight with that 'more blocks = better defense' logic too.

How does that mean next to nothing when Gasol can break down defenses with his decision making and passing while Dwight fumbles the ball in the post, which leads to a turnover? Not to mention stretching the floor with his shooting and not clogging up the lane on every possession.
