I know most posters here are pushing 50 so let me break it down for you uncs:

A child that has been born in the last 15 years has this:
Yy0wME5tdVlyMD0

As one of their earliest memories. They have grown up seeing adults taking photos and videos of them and knowing that they dont have control over their own image. They do not know a world where they can exist without the possibility of one or more people recording them at any time without their consent.

They have also grown up seeing other people getting turned into content against their will. They understand it is not something they can fight, and in fact getting angry when someone is recording you makes that person even HAPPIER to record you. Your anger is content too.

So they realized its best to just be nonchalant at all times. Its best to preserve your dignity by having maximum aura or by making yourself so cold and unremarkable that its not fun to record you. You arent giving an interesting reaction, you cannot be turned into interesting content OR you are so cool that the only content they can turn you into is content that makes you look cool because you're flexing in a cold way. Obvious sincerity is ridiculed. High energy excitement(unless in a group with the same enery) is ridiculed. Like that that 6 7 kid, you get turned into a joke with kids and grown adults mocking your facial expression and excitement for views.

He wants them to be mad grateful and profusely thank him :mjlol: basically hes giving them those gift card for himself

They could be grateful, but they may not express outwardly. You gotta know who you’re dealing with. Regardless, this isn’t something to wine about, but he’s a comedian and trying to be funny. He needs to stick to skits

Does this explain the whole Gen Z stare thing?

I always saw it as a mixture of overprescribed medication, brainrot and social apathy

But your post makes sense that they see themselves as "content" in somebody else story so they shut down whenever they aren't driving it. The whole effort/caring is cringe thing

reminds me of this :mjlol:

All jokes aside, giving is supposed to be a two-way street. The receiver feels good because they got something for no reason, and the giver feels good for doing something kind for someone else. That should be the natural reaction.

Most of the gen z stare stuff ive seen is from people expecting people working in customer service jobs they hate not being appropriately excited to be there.

And a lot of the time they stare because they cant tell you that you arent making sense with the shyt youre asking them to do or they're just tired of putting up a front.

Wasted all that time with this soliloquy just to confirm Mark was right and I ain't nowhere near 50. A 5 year old can explain the dynamics of joy so the fact that kids and young adults are unable to process it for fear of losing face is a societal problem.

Depression and self harm rates climbing on a global scale with that demographic and you have condescending MFs like you trying to splain it away as a disconnect due to an age gap. F'N ridiculous. Mark correctly identified the symptoms from everyday lived experience, it's abnormal and unhealthy.

Joyless repressed kids become joyless repressed adults and then produce joyless repressed kids or kids that have to fight through that atmosphere as if it were the new norm. So we can argue semantics or address the warping of our society for the next 100 years, at least.

Gotta keep it simple for the Uncs. :mjlol:
