The film industry was better off before the Marvel and streaming boom.
Marvel just accelerated what was already happening.

Lord of the Rings, Nolan’s Batman, Raimi’s Spider-Man, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Transformers etc etc

The early 2000s is when Hollywood decided they weren’t going to take many chances on original content and instead borrow from existing intellectual property.

There will be an inverse response at some point. We’ll be some old ass people when it happens though.

So far pretty much all of phase 4 (with the exception of Spider-Man No Way Home) has been pretty meh. Thor 4 is getting mix reviews right now and Black Panther 2 which is suppose to be next has been through like 6 rewrites and they still won‘t even give us another actor for T’Challa. :why:

shyt is looking very bad for Marvel at the moment. :francis:
They need to put out more films like New Mutants, I liked that direction.

:wow:
There are very few perfect films, and ever fewer perfect superhero films.

I literally stop what I’m doing and watch The Dark Knight (or just play it in the background) whenever it’s on tv.

Endgame is the other film that I hold in such regard.
Oddly enough, Endgame was on last night. I fell asleep lol

As someone who has been a collector long before the movies...I have to say that it definately has fallen off with an opportunity to rebound

granted, Phase 4 has had some good stuff to offer (Ms. Marvel, MODOK etc) ...and I haven't seen Eternals, the 2nd Dr. Strange, or Shang Chi....but I gotta admit...if I'm not into the characters from the jump...I just can't get into it, especially when IMO there are so many other storylines and characters that should be on the table (Xmen, X Factor, X Force, FF, miles Morales, Silver Surfer etc etc)...ive been pretty much keeping the MCU on standby until I see announcement for one of those

Nope. What we are seeing now is people with these "fukk Marvel" takes just trying to get attention. nikkas in the film room said Dr Strange 2 was a flop while it made 900+ million at the box office.

Nobody used "flop". it underperformed and it did given all the hype. industry experts had it at $1.1B so under $950M was an underperformance. Eternals and Shang Chi were flops.

Numbers dont lie dawg. The shyt flopped cuz it was mediocre. Word of mouth still means something. Of course its gonna be people that like it. But the CONSENSUS and the majority is that it fell short. If YOU like it...cool. I like Howard The Duck. Its trash to the Majority. I hate i had to break this down to you smhhhh

Who didn’t know Incredible Hulk, Thor, captain America and Ironman? The avengers a whole were probably obscure to an extent but people knew of those characters.
Everybody had them on lunch boxes as kids and watched them in cartoons. they were never B tier.

That was a good decision imo. Because if any of these screenwriters were as good at writing original content as someone like Tolkien, Stan Lee, or Rowling, They wouldn't be screenwriters, they would be best selling authors like Rowling and them.
