No Father To MY Style.. A Son Unique
Its not always about lazy or hollywood. Y'all do realize these dudes got lives. Not only did he go through it with the IRS but Mefs wife was fighting cancer for a few years. shyt like that is guaranteed to fukk up your momentum.

As far as the music, he may not have stayed at the forefront of the mainstream but I have enjoyed everything he has put out, solos and collab's. i honestly cant say he has put out any wack shyt. so yeah if you measure the music by the enjoyment it gives you Mef is good in my books
this is actually more to the truth than anything. especially with him missing these past few years. from my staten isle sources...

it wasnt laziness imo. meth was probably one of the hardest working dudes in the clan. always showed up to guest on the other albums, always ready to put in work on the group albums, even when he wasnt focused.

i hate to be the one to say it... but he just wasnt as good as his peers. all-time flow. not a strong lyricist. above average, but not a great song-writer. never evolved as an mc the way ghost, rae, red, and his all-time great contemporaries did.

u listen to the first wu album and meth is no worse than the second best mc on it. and easily the most consistent, imo. steals the show every time he pops up.

by the time wu-tang forever dropped, ghost, rae, rza had all passed him. deck arguably. odb passed him on return to the 36, but was already falling off by group album two.

red demolished him every time they shared a mic, save for one or two joints off blackout (cheka and y.o.u. spring to mind).

ghost and rae both have albums that could probably make the top 10 all-time. meth doesnt have an album that makes the top 100.

wu wouldnt be shyt without meth. but he'll always be remembered more for his impact over the music. even with some truly great, all-time singles (m.e.t.h.o.d. man, the whut, shadowboxin, meth vs chef, ice cream, mind made up, dirty dancin, bring the pain, ur all i need) his overall body of work is just... ok. definitely not comparable to ob4cl, ghosts entire catalogue, liquid swords, return to the 36, etc.

and when u expand the lens to look at albums from non-wu peers? :yeshrug:

show me a meth album fukkin with the best efforts from jay, nas, big, cube, busta, snoop, kast, 'face, pac, black moon, dmx, etc.

u cant. not a shot at meth's place in history. he's a legend either way. but still... u cant.

Rza didn't pass Meth.

Meth admitted Red got him on Blackout but they both acknowledged he got him on Blackout 2. Also, according to both of them, Blackout was rushed as hell because Def Jam at the time was putting out albums like fast food and gave deadlines for albums and made the artists work toward it with the quickness and often took albums before they were ready
Yeah I remember hearing they wrote/recorded most of that album either on the tour bus or while on tour. I cant recall fully off hand though.

Meth is like Freddie Gibbs ( or Gibbs is like Meth rather )where they can rap or sound good over Any beat. Redman is in the mix too. That's why I was feeling Meth when he asked Budden to get on the same track and spit with him, after he came out of pocket saying he could rap better than Meth. Budden can rap/spit but not as versatile as Meth.

It was both. they wrote and recorded it while on tour they'd have a studio on the bus
Oh okay yeah that lines up then. I saw some video way back during that time where Red was in awe of Meths delivery in regards to how his bars match up /hit exactly on the beat.

You have people called Rick Ross albums and Lil' Wayne, Drake albums are classic and yet you said Tical isn't a classic? :usure:

Are you telling me that any Rick Ross albums and Lil' Wanye albums, Drake albums that people called "classic" better than Tical?.....ARE YOU OUT YOUR F*CKING MIND? :what:
I don't care what other people say, none of those guys have classic albums (and to be honest, outside of The Carter 1, I've never seen anyone call any of their albums classic that weren't stans on a messageboard)

And with that said, no Tical isn't classic, no matter how beligerent you get about it.

underrated...imo one of the most consistent and original with the pen and flow. disappointing when you factor in all the other stuff that affected him, but i think he has always held up his end of the bargain as an mc

and tical is a personal classic...

when it comes strictly to flow I'd rank him among greatest if not the greatest of all time along with: 3stacks, AZ, guru, biggie, snoop, nobody else can flow better
