Going by the parameters set in the OP...nah...hip hop, as vast and fragmented as it is, this song is too far pushed towards a particular subset or arm of hip hop to be presented as a perfect example indicative of the entire essence of the culture

its actually so crazy how many 10/10 songs this album has, something that i wasnt able to appreciate until a lot of listens through this album

and then Ghost still has other GOAT records on Ironman and Fishscale

but they're both GOAT level albums

hell FishScale is nearly in that realm as well

Fishscale is just as dope as Ironman and Supreme Clientele

Ghost rapping over dope production from legendary producers and murdering every song

Not one weak song on the album

But I'm kinda biased towards that album because that's the album that put me on to DOOM

I stand by my opinion that this is the pinnacle of hip hop music.

It serves as a living time capsule of all East Coast based hip hop music up until that point.

yep. Every single song on this album is 10/10. The only one I'd rate a 9/10 is Malcolm.

And like you, it took me years to figure this shyt out. When I first heard Clientele, I was so addicted to "One" and "Mighty Healthy" I didn't really give the others a chance. Then I somehow heard Childs Play on a whim and thought, 'wow, this beat switch is fukkin incredible.' So I listened to that for months on end. Decided to buy the CD and let it run in my car. and then it hit me like 'yo, every song on this album is 10/10'. Even songs I dismissed as trash initially like Cherchez La Ghost and Stay True were suddenly so damn fire to me

Supreme Clientele imo is probably the most colorful, wild and grimy rap album ever. Like some Alice in Wonderland in the hood type shyt. Super fun and games, but you can still get got at a moment's notice. This nikka really said, "Hit the rum slow, parole kids, live Rapunzel"

There's something so damn wild about a song like this.
