I wasn't even offended by that. It's comedy so I expect everything and anything. If that joke had come from an actual African then I might have felt different, otherwise I really don't care. Other groups are not my cross to bear.

The thing is, it wasn't funny. in the least. There was not wit, no suggestion, he said it point black in the most brash manner he could.

He simply said Oh you're dark and african... ok since I have no imagination, let me compare you to a highly recognizable primate... maybe koko... no better Cesar from planet of the apes, everyone knows him... they'll laugh at that and let me throw in Ebola too.

How is that joke acceptable of seasoned comedian? where? I'll stick to Bill Burr, Paul Mooney and TFS's Dragon ball parodies for the moment (recommend it to anyone by the way).

The bolded. I'm not even tripping on the ape/Ebola finger shyt since black folks have been saying shyt like that for years(to each other) shyt just isn't funny. It's like a 4th grader wrote them. And it's just old. 16 years later and you still using the same jokes with Michael Blackson?

Comedy is subjective. There are so many different styles of comedy, some that a lot of black people haven't even touched on a mainstream level, and when they start to pop people are going to continue to be like "Thats white comedy" "He's c00ning"

Why is it that white people can laugh at themselves but blacks cant laugh at ourselves? I actually have the answer. The answer is that some blacks that are looking at other blacks and saying they are c00ning are looking at other blacks from, lets just call it "another" perspective, not necessarily white, but not from a perspective of equality. They look down on them and look at them from afar and shake their heads "He's c00ning!" Im guilty of it....Ive called a black coworker for dancing....In retrospect he wasn't c00ning he was just in a good mood, friendly demeanor, a normal human being expressing himself. It wasn't something he did often or was doing to show out, and he was just being goofy and did a little dance. I was pissed cause this was real close to the Michael Brown shyt and I snapped on him. He's older than me by 15-20 years or so and he was born and lived in Nigeria and I snapped on him. I wasn't looking at him as my co worker, or another brother, or even judging his behavior (the dancing) I was judging his character. And that was wrong of me. Thats like a white man going to a black comedy club and say "So this is what you guys talk about, huh!?!" This is a black movie for black people, we gotta be able to laugh at ourselves and not be so damn serious all the time. Once again this is a black movie for black audiences, its not going to get the same promotion as white movies. This isn't a you must see movie or even a they want you to see movie. The cast and crew aren't going to do the tonight show circuits and radio interviews and you wont see 1000 trailers on tv and advertisements during football games and your favorite shows. The white people aren't going to promote the hell out of this movie so a person who has never met a black person thinks that this is how black people act. Its a small movie and this whole thing is just not that serious.
100% . we have a lot of spending power, instead of tearing it down we could support and put these folks in a better position to make better shyt.
theres a lot more c00ning in this thread than in 200 movies like this.

Mike Epps is horrible. Type of nikka to make corny jokes and laugh at them himself. He has never been funny just acts clownish which passes for funny. All his movie dialogue is trash.

I can't believe they wanted to play Richard wow

This thread will die. c00ning on Camera lives damn near forever. It's a horrible way to keep cementing stereotypes and carrying those stupid ideas forward for generations. The posters in here could never do as much damage as dumb actors who sell out in flicks.

If this isn't the most naive shyt I've read in minute.... :wow:

the reality is there are several people involved with this that work extremely hard at what they do, and causing them to fail will only make things worse.
we cant even get past our own racial hang ups long enough to support each other. if we dont put them into better positions no one will

just the people in this thread, take a good look at the things you do support, or will support over this.

And what's the point if we put them into better positions so they can make more shyt like this?
You need to read Ildris Elba's critiscm of Tyler Perry's movies because he lays it out better than I can.

This is the movie equivalent of that one breh at work that goes into a group of non-black people and says shyt like, "Oh i'm late, well you know nikkas, we always late" or "Don't leave that shyt out around me. I'm a nikka, I might just steal your shyt"

Don't be naive, we don't have to put ourselves down/dress up as women/reinforce stereotypes to be funny :snoop:

3 people winning at the cost of reafirming negative viewpoints on their race isn't progress.

This won't do anything to push them forward its just a cheque not a foothold in Hollywood or anything else.
